Yo I started playin lax last year and uh I didn't really know how to play..I still don't really know how to play, but I'm hoping to get better this year and learn THE GAME. I'm currently a sophomore, last year I played as a midfielder. I found that it's kinda hard to play midfield and have asthma, so I decided that I'd give defense a shoot. I'm borrowing a d pole from my friend I think it's a zirconium from stx and i'm putting my evo2.0 on it I just want to know opinions on me, being a noob, switching over to defense this year...I just want to know if I still have time to pick up a d pole and get nice with it ya know... maybe some tips on how to play the position would be nice too. thanks guys, sorry this is so long. peace out:clap:

I would say at this stage, there really isn't anything specific you should be working on. I suggest trying to watch as much lacrosse as you can, and read as much information about game strategy as you can.
other than that, you should be hitting the wall a couple of hours a day, and you should also be playing a lot of one-on-one with your friends/fellow lacrosse players.
At this stage of development, you really need a good base to build from... try practicing defense without your stick. this will help you be much better with footwork (as footwork is the foundation for good d).
good luck, and if you have any questions, feel free to PM me

Welcome to Lacrosse Forums. From now on, try to use the search bar. Obviously you're not the first new kid on the block, so chances are there are multiple threads on many different subjects of lacrosse.

Moving to defense is a bad idea. You need to learn the basics.
Catch, Throw, Cradle, Scoop.
It's easier to learn on a shortie.
As for asthma, don't use it as an excuse. Use your inhaler before practice.
