I'm giving private lax lessons to a 14y/o LSM and am starting to run out of drills. So far I've done the following:
-agility ladder w/ a ground ball or pass at the end that he has to scoop or knock down and make a good pass back to me
-2 piles of balls (approx 16 balls/pile) and he runs back and forth between them and picks up a ball from each pile and makes a good pass to me (this is timed for speed and he switches hands for each pile until he has picked up and passed every ball)
-checking drill where I hold a hitting pad and run a zig zag while yelling poke or slap to him. After a few rotations I yell body check and he hits the pad and I drop a ground ball that he has to pick up and sprint to a cone.
-long toss
-hitting drill where I place a ground ball behind me and he has to push me off the ball, box me out and scoop it up (i have the hitting pad)

I have the following equipment:
-agility ladder (on the ground, not elevated)
-32 balls
-hitting pad
-cones

Any suggestions for more drills?? Keep in mind, its a private lesson, so there's only two of us. Thanks!!

To help with body positioning. Take an old shaft and cut it down to about 1 1/2 feet, and dodge on him. this will force him to play defense with his feet and hands, rather than his stick.

Was 'bout to suggest that myself.

You seem to have covered the general needs of a LSM. Now, just have him run a whole lot. The most beneficial thing he can do is work on his endurance.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to work on dodges, shooting, and quicksticks. You never know when you're going to get caught down in their offensive zone with an opportunity to score.

have him work on his angles of pursuit: stopping the break is a big part of LSM play. carry the ball towards the goal and make him beat you in (he starts near sideline so his run is longer and gets the "angle") it simulates dropping to the hole on a lost FO.
