ok, so now i really want to do another trad in my razer (the first attempt was nearly tennis racket status) but im not sure what to do. string a trade, for use some of textile's composite mesh. which would give better hold and durability?

so u want to either string a trad in ur razer or use textile comp mesh? IMO the trad should have much better hold, but it may be less durable because its harder to repair a tear and rain will mess it up

it looks like you didn't cut holes in the bottom of the leathers. eventually thats gonna lead to some problems with the cross-lace meshing up

That is a very nice job. Symmetrical, clean and overall nice.
MACDADDY, it really is up to you on stringing a trad for you, but consider a few things.
ok, so now i really want to do another trad in my razer (the first attempt was nearly tennis racket status)
Just make sure to take your time and don't take stringing so seriously, have fun with it and it should come out great.
but im not sure what to do. string a trade, for use some of textile's composite mesh. which would give better hold and durability?
String a trad, even though it does take more time and is harder to string, trads offer so much more than mesh (in my opinion).
As long as you string it well you can have a ton of hold and whip, just depends on the stringing. Bigger diamonds mean more hold in general. Pocket placement, pocket placement regards to the shooting strings, and deepness of the pocket also have an impact on hold. Then of course whip you add to the shooters will add to it as well.
As long as you take good care of it it will last a long long time. If it rains, dry off heavy water or mud and ball and knife it. Then let it dry on its own over time.
Durability can be a problem, but if you take care of it and don't let it stay messed up then it shouldn't be a problem. Only drawback about them are that if a string breaks you have to unstring it and either string a new one or something else.
One big thing to consider is since you do live up in NorCal area how is the weather right now? If it is raining a lot or snowing a lot in your area, you may want to wait till the weather gets nicer.
Hope I helped.

i strung the trad a bit loose (not too much) and then pounded it to a little over illegal depth. then i tightened everything, wet it, and pounded some more.
the act of pounding to illegal depth may be pointless, but i just wanted to see how far it would go and what adjustments to make.
czechinthepipes, thanks for the advice. right now the weathers been pretty decent, cloudy, no rain. mud isnt a problem because every team we play has astro turf.
i also got to throw with it yesterday. it was whippy because some of the shooters were too tight, but when i loosened it, i couldnt even feel the ball come out. is there a way to make the pocket have a decent amount of whip (not throw to ground whip) and have the ball release more defined?
(he did like the pocket though)

Ya you can string it so that it has some decent hold (like whip). Bigger diamonds just like mesh cause more hold. Also, having a well defined pocket helps too. And if it is near the shooters, it will have even more hold because of the whip due to the shooters (unless you keep the shooters like really loose).
-Edit: another thing that helps with hold is creating a nice tight channel with the leathers. Have the two center ones deep, and have the two outer leathers really tight, it will create a channel and add even more hold.

i probably should have taken a picture of it, but the leathers on the side are touching the ball, which is a decent channel in my opinion. would taking out the second nylon and spread the shooters out a bit help with a defined release?

Here I took two of your pictures and used paint.
http://content.imagesocket.com/thumbs/cyber_307a4ed.JPG (http://imagesocket.com/view/cyber_307a4ed.JPG)
Red arrows: What I meant by making a channel I meant that the outer leathers should be pulled up tight near the sidewall by the strings on the outside. Which is what the red arrows are showing.
Yellow arrows: keep that distance (between the yellow arrows) between the channel and the outer leathers apart more, it will form a nice channel depending on how deep the channel is regards to the space between the two center leathers and the outer leathers (the yellow arrows). As I said earlier the tighter the channel the more hold there will be, so keep the outer leathers tight, and make sure that the center leathers are deep so you have a nice deep channel.
Hope that wasn't too confusing.

thanks czech.
i know what you mean. its like the rocket-pocket idea. the only concern i would have is making the pocket deep enough.
