Fellas, I need some advice. I'm post collegiate not coaching high school JV and I'm trying to think of a simple clear for my team.

The Goalies know:
1) look from the shot
2) Look to middies
3) Look to the Box
4) Look at the D on GLE
5) Final, last resort take it up the field and cause a 2v1 opportunity.

What I'm use to:

Walking the ball up with two D on my sides. Have a middie drop over and have an attack cross the field for an open pass.

Any advice for a simple clear that a JV and 9th grade team can grasp. Thanks.

this is a clear i learned from the goucher coach last summer if you can teach it to them and they can run it it works like 95% of the time but it requires everyone to know what they are doing

my philosophy on clearing is that speed is of the essence.

the basic concept that will hand you goal after goal in transition:
1. Goalie makes a save
2. everyone breaks to prearranged places.
3. the goalie should have the ball out of his stick before anyone gets to their set mark; middies are best, and will almost always yield fastbreaks/odd-man rushes, but defenseman will work in a bind and are usually more open.
4. if the goalie hits a defenseman, he should either call immediately for the ball to reverse it across the field, or, if the D-man is pushing forward, the goalie should fill in behind or diagonally to the ball carrier, scanning the field and telling him who's open.
5. if he's an athlete and a decent stick handler, the goalie can break upfield or alongside the pole, which will open up a good pass in the middle or force coverage on the keeper, opening up a skip pass.
6. everyone should be SPRINTING in this. try and get the ball across the midfield in less than 10 seconds;the quicker you are, the less of a chance you give the opposition to organize a pre-arranged ride.

thats just my view, my coaches don't always agree, but personally, i feel the quicker i get a pass away, the better.
