Hi i help coach at a small high school where lacrosse is fairly new. We have about 15 kids on the team we have one very strong line of midfeilders and another line that is made up by all freshmen who have only been playing one year. Our attack is average we only have one kid who is a good feeder but the rest of the attack can't feed very well. Our defense is rather small and they only have average stick skills (but they are getting better fast). My question is what sort of offense and defense should we run, keeping in mind our limited numbers and our one strong line of midfeilders? And also how should we practice the movements (especially defensive slides)?

Google or search here for the following: "jack kaley" "NYIT" "backer zone/pressure zone" and the 2-2-2 set for offense.
We're a 2nd year team, and we use variants of his techniques, since they're adapted for use by a very small team. We played many games last year with less than 15 players.

PM me if you want details on the backer zone, since that's what I coach my dpoles to use. It's just a box and one man down zone defense, but with an extra man. It has the advantage of being very aggressive on the ball and clogging up the crease area very well.

He runs a 2-2-2 and a backer zone. Good video.

you can run a very simple 3-2-1 with 3 midfielders up top, two attackmen by the cage, and one attackmen behind the cage at x(him being your best feeder).
to change it up, it could go 3-3 with three midfielders up top, two attackmen in their respective places and one attackmen resting on crease.

there are countless formations; just make sure you emphasize off-ball movement, such as cuts and picks.

what do you all do to generate off ball movement. my dad and i made a game where you play 6v6 but if you are standing still then you have to run a lap.

I recommend that video, too. He also has a separate video just about the defense, as well as one on his ground ball and riding systems. All of them are worth the money.
