I gotta say either Hopkins at Virginia or Maryland at UNC, both should be really good games.

I didn't pick the Duke game because lets face it...they are making everyone look silly, and GT hasn't been playing up to their preseason image...
I like Princeton @ Albany...Albany REALLY needs the W. They are't as horrible as their record indicates. They have had too many 1 goal losses. 4 more goals and they could be a top 10 team.
Towson @ Hofstra - I am partial to Hofstra and after the Hopkins win, I am waiting to find out if they are a contender or a pretender team...
Hopkins @ UVA...Personally I think Hop will lose. I think they will go on a 5 game skid...UVA is too powerfull...but you never know......
MD @ UNC has got to be the best matchup this week...I'll let JD do the pregame analysis on this one...

After watching the Face-Off Classic, I would have said that JHU would masterfully hand uva their behinds, but now...
JHU just isn't playing up to their usual standard which has me wondering what is going on in the locker room before the games. As for uva, they look (I hate to admit it, but respect where respect is due) solid as usual. (Where's Delaware when you want them to stomp uva?)
Ultimately, I see uva defeating JHU by 6 points this weekend. I was going to go see it, but have other commitments.
In conclusion,
GO NAVY!

I am intrigued to see what will happen with the Hopkins/UVa game. With the Jays not playing up to par and many expecting Hop to lose to second-ranked Virginia, will they have yet another surprising game, but this time it ends in a W for the Blue Jays? (:rolling:) ...I will continue to hope.
And of course, Maryland at UNC is promising to be a good conference battle.

I agree with Stegmakk. Duke is making everyone look silly. So don't expect me to pick them to be Game of Week anytime soon. Also, don't expect any team to give them a run for their money until Hopkins or Virginia is playing them. Or until the NCAA tournament. No doubt though that Duke will make it to the Semi-Finals.
Game of the Week: Hopkins @ Virginia. This is going to be a down to 4th quarter deciding game. With Hopkins coming off two game losing streak it's do or die time. Will the Hopkins everyone knows as this mighty powerhouse team return? Or will #2 ranked Virginia keep using their powerhouse line-up to put up major points. Personally, I don't think this is Hopkins' week. They will suffer a third lose in Charlottesville and Virginia moves to 10-0. I expect both of these teams to make it to the NCAA Semi-Finals but if Hopkins doesn't improve expect Syracuse to take their place.
Other Good Games...
Maryland @ UNC. I like this UNC team. They definitely have come a long way since their losing season. I don't like the way either team played against Duke. Honestly, I think UNC has this one in the bag. Expect them to win this one by 1 or 2 goals.
Princeton @ Albany. I liked Albany a lot last year. 0-5 for this year with 4 of the 5 loses being 1 point games... I'd like to see them turn it around but it's not going to happen. Princeton will come in strong and walk away winning by 2-4 goals.

This is a must win for Hopkins this week.If they lose against Virginia and drop 2 more in their ACC stretch they will probably finish with an 8-5 record which might not get them into the tournament. I think Hopkins will lose to Duke and UNC but this week prevail against Virginia. Virginia's goalie is only saving about 51% of his shots and I am not really sure if the offense is going be able to keep them in it again. The X factor is def Will Barrow.

The most intriguing games to me this week feature a couple of Great Western Lacrosse League teams hoping to recapture some of their preseason prestige. Denver and Ohio State face a couple of big challengers, though, and both of them are something of a surprise.
1. Hopkins @ Virginia -- Not surprised to see Lax Nation calling this the "game of the week," and I agree, but I'm a little surprised there aren't more fans looking favorably on Hopkins' chances. You can't stop Virginia from scoring, that's true. So to hang with them, you need to have a few scorers yourself, avoid turnovers, work for high percentage shots, be aggressive on defense, and stay out of the penalty box. Sound like anyone you know? Best match-up may be in goal: UVA's freshman Adam Ghitelman (9.56 goals against average, .512 save %) vs. Hopkins' sophomore Michael Gvozden (8.7, .542). Tip for the Blue Jays: match the Cavaliers' intensity in the first five to 10 minutes of the second half … otherwise it could get ugly. I really think this one could go either way. -- Virginia 14-13
2. Maryland @ North Carolina -- Started a thread on this one ... thanks stegs. http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=111546
3. UMBC @ Ohio State -- Ohio State has lost two one-goal games, to Navy and Bucknell. The Retrievers, with a stat sheet that needs some work, lost by two at Hopkins and defeated then-No. 6 Maryland. The Buckeyes may be the best after Notre Dame in the Great Western, but I'm a Retriever believer … Terry Kimener, Ryan Smith, Kyle Wimer and Alex Hopmann -- oh yeah, and that dog-gone defense -- look ready to win in Columbus. -- UMBC 11-8
4. Denver @ Stony Brook -- The Pioneers looked like they were rebounding nicely from a three-game skid before being bushwacked by Cornell 20-7. Now Denver has to face one of the best freshman attackmen in the country in Stony Brook's Jordan McBride (23g/7a). Otherwise, these teams seem to match up well with each other. The Canadian McBride netted 10 goals against Delaware, has scored 23 goals on 30 shots, and boasts an .892 shot on goal percentage. I don't see how the Pioneers can contain him, and he's not the only scorer Denver has to worry about. -- Stony Brook 14-8
