Threads are closed for a variety of reasons, some more obvious than others. How obvious is based off how well some of us know the stickies et al. A preference thread will be closed quickly, so will a thread where it's not only obvious the creator didn't search but other members pointed out already existing threads themselves. For the less obvious ones, mods will generally try and post the reason, or pm the reason or any combination thereof. If for some reason there isn't an obvious reason or you need clarification, PM the mod or supermod of the given forum for an explanation.
However, if a thread gets closed or is removed from public view, please do not re-make the thread or make a new thread asking about why it was closed or removed. If it isn't obvious (or you don't think it's as obvious as we think it is), again PM a mod for an explanation.
And just because a thread gets closed or removed, please do not take it personally. A thread isn't closed with malicious intent, but if for some reason you feel it was, you can (stop me if you heard this one before) PM a mod, supermod, or admin to look into it for you.
