I've searched and this is asking something totally different...

Im pretty sure I want to major in Mechanical engineering or at least in that field... but id like to do so while playing dII or dIII lax

I dont quite know how else so go about finding quality schools that offer both then to post on here...

If it matters, I havent taken ACT or SAT but have a 3.8 GPA

Use www.laxpower.com to find DIII and DII teams, then use www.collegeboard.com to search for schools you are interested in to see if they have that major.

That's a good question. There's a thread in which someone asks about Aeronautical Engineering at Division I schools, but I can't recall one for ME at Div. III schools. Most of those Div. III schools are liberal arts colleges, which will not offer engineering. Not all; most. I'm certain far more Div. I schools offer engineering than Div. III schools.

I'm looking over the list of Div. III schools (http://www.laxpower.com/update08/binmen/rating03.php) now. Here are three programs in New York state.

Mechanical, Aerospace, & Nuclear Engineering at Rensselaer (http://www.eng.rpi.edu/mane/)

Mechanical engineering at Alfred (http://engineering.alfred.edu/undergrad/me/)

Mechanical engineering at RIT (http://www.rit.edu/~932www/ugrad_bulletin/colleges/coe/mecheng.html)

The Division II schools (http://www.laxpower.com/update08/binmen/rating02.php) appear equally bereft.

1 school is the US Merchant MArine Academy in Kings Point NY. Just like a regular military academy for admission, BUT you have the option of no military service, if I am not mistaken? Another one is NYIT

RPI renselear polytechnical institute. They have a dIII team. Great school as well. My brother goes there and it is known to be on the best engineering schools in nation.

RIT - Rochester Institute of Technology. Great engineering programs. Lax team is almost always a top 20 DIII program and they are in a great conference (Empire 8). The campus is kind of dull (all brick buildings) but they have great athletic facilities. Rochester is a pretty nice city, good size around 250,000 not too big not too small, home to the NLL Knighthawks and the MLL Rattlers. However, the weather does suck in the winter.

Consider MCLA colleges. Great engineering programs. splendid lax, funner lax because the program isn't varsity, and you'll perhaps play 4 years if you're good enough to play top DIII ball.
