I'm getting new gloves soon, and i can't decide on getting k18 goalies or the field version and makeing a custom thumb. I have heard that the thumb can be very annoying, is this true? Also do field gloves have less protection on the top of the hand then goalie gloves do or is it the same? Thanks.

i just got my 18s and they are awsome. the thumb is a little different but it really prevents the damage to ligaments at the base of the thumb by acting as a splint. I used to have a custom thumb on my ipros but it always jerked back when it was hit but the 18s dont...i highly recommend them

I've had mine since christmas and the thumb gets less annoying after you break it in a little. Overall probably one of my favorite goalie gloves. I highly recommend you get the goalie version.

I am planning on getting these gloves and I was wondering the same question. Is the thumb hard to move? How long did it take to break in?

these gloves are very protective, very durable and like hurst said they prevent ligament damage, and trust me you dont want ligament damage. get the goalie version and once they break in a little, you will never want to switch to another glove

the thumb doesnt bend. It moves with alittle bit of resistace but you cant give thumbs up or anything like that.

Does it have a lot of protection on the backside of the glove, like so if you get a shot that is going 80+MPH, you won't feel too much? Because the gloves I use now don't really offer that much protection.

Ya I want to know the same because I broke my hand a week ago from an 80+ mph shot to the backside of the glove and now I'm screwed for the season. Would it be worth hanging up my superfreaks for a pair of these?

to break in gloves - lather with shaving cream (not gel) put in inside the gloves and put them on and open and close your hand for about 3 minutes. then rinse with hot water ( dont worry about getting the gloves wet, they dry over night) then do that again and after than put it on the palms and rub them together and bend your fingers for about 2 minutes. rinse with hot water again and then dry the palms for 5 min with a hair dryer. after that place them over an a/c vent in your house over night. if followed correctly they should break in extremely well after 2/3 practices. for faster break-in period you can do this process again the next day
