If I'm posting this at 10:30 in the morning, you can tell I didn't get an early enough start to the day to go see this in person.

Just a note about when the broadcast of this game will be aired. The TV schedule in Saturday's Washington Post sports section indicates that the tape of the game will be broadcast on ESPNU at 2 p.m. If you live in the DC-Baltimore area and, like all right-thinking people, refuse to pay money to watch television, you can watch the game broadcast live, in real time, on Baltimore's channel 2, starting at 11 a.m.

WMAR Lacrosse TV Schedule (http://www.abc2news.com/content/sports/lax/default.aspx)

Start tweaking those rabbit ears.

The TV that can receive channel 2 over the air and the computer are in two different rooms, so I have to run down to the computer during the Wells Discount Liquors commercials.

Notes: game conditions are cloudy but dry, temperature about 45 degrees F. There could be some rain during the second half.

The DU side of the bleachers was not filled at the start of the game. Halfway through Q1, they were SRO, and there were people sitting on the hillside. In goal for DU, Loftus. In goal for GU, Kass.

And Georgetown's been sleepy all year... kass has in general been playing very, though. And if its just that Duke's attack was slow, then hopefully a loss has revitalized them for the next games.

Up till this weekend, I had been waiting for a good upset to happen.
First, there was UAlbany's small upset over Princeton (what was so surprising though was the margin of victory).
And now this....I am quite shocked really, due to the fact that Duke was just blowing opponent out of the water up until today. I actually had a feeling that a Duke offensive productivity would slow sometime in the not too distant future, but it really didn't seem likely to happen against a G-town team that no one gave much of a chance. This game shows that the Blue Devils have a chink in their armor, and gives opponents hope. But I don't really see Duke allowing this to happen much more, and a loss might strengthen the team even more.

Will this be a weekend of upsets? [Translation: Will Hopkins beat UVa in what could be considered an upset?]

I could of seen this coming. Some sloppy games by georgetown and everyone's sleeping on them. One of there starting middies were out and they still win. I like georgetown alot, and theyll only be better with there middie back. And Duke had to slow down eventually. Watching the game duke is alomst too confident. Behind the back passes everywhere. There too cocky. Who takes number one spot now? Virginia? what if they lose to hopkins?

who was covering zack greer? he only had 1 goal. brad ross was also held in check. that mustve been LSM barney ehrmann. hes sick.

loftus only had 10 saves while letting in 11, but miles kass was ridiculous. 18 saves and 7 GA.

i wasnt really expecting Duke to be undefeated this season. But if you guys know duke, this really wont matter much, and a loss was probably good for them. thye know they arent invincable, and they now arent trying so hard to have that perfect season. Most likly just a speed bump in thier journy. But just remember guys, this game doesnt matter, its whoevers on the top on Memorial Day Weekend that matters. itll be interesting to see what BOTH teams bring to the table in the next couple of weeks.

Gotta say I agree with the above post. I didn't expect Duke to have a perfect season or even go undefeated during the regular season. But the regular season doesn't matter as much as just winning enough games to get into the NCAA bracket. Whichever team steps it up for Memorial Day Weekend will be the National Champions. Hopkins for example won it with 4 regular season loses.

But with the Duke loss... Virginia moves to be #1! =p Go Hoos!

I was at the game. It was a good one.

Maybe I'm missing it in the report, but Danowski got a 3 min stick penalty at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Gtown clearly took Duke by surprise off the bat. D wasn't firing on all 8 cylinders off the face and Gtown took advantage. Most of the game, one of the off ball side dmen was dropping in near the guys on the crease and leaving the other guy to split the two. Gtown figured it out in no time and started finding lanes to sling the ball across and work that 2 v 1.

At the end of the 1st quarter I still figured Duke would take it as it reminded me of their playoff game against UNC last year. They just needed to wake up.

Loftus definitely got hung out to dry a few times but he didn't seem to be on top of his game. I can't remember if it was the 2nd or 3rd goal but on a clear, an attackman was in his face and he put the ball right in his stick and the attackman put it right in the net. The second to last goal was also pretty much on an empty net. I wasn't paying attention to where he was but I guess he pushed out to play D and get a double.

Gtown seemed to control a lot of the face offs but Duke's wingmen was good on getting the ball.

Offensively, Gtown controlled the ball well and really took advantage of Duke's mistakes. Duke's offense didn't have many mistakes to capitalize on and they had trouble creating opportunities. They ran an invert a lot, trying to isolate a shorty behind but because of quick Gtown slides couldn't get an angle for a quality shot and Kass ate them up. Danowski had a real nice goal from up top with a rising crank into the offstick upper 90. Greer looked rough with a couple bobbled feeds. Quinzani took over Greer's role though for the most part.

It's not there, but I'm going to add it now. I missed the beginning of the fourth quarter when I was at the computer editing my report. The computer and the TV that picks up channel 2 are in two different rooms.
