who do you guys think is the best first year starting goalie. not specifically freshman but goalies who there first starting year is this year.
i think michael gvozden, he has proven himself multiple times this season. he has done well considering he had big shoes to fill since jesse schwartzman has graduated.

Adam Ghitelman. Undefeated and hes a freshman. They also have a hard schedule. Gvodzen good, but hopkins has lost a few.

ghitelman also isnt putting up great numbers, i know his record is good and all but thats not because hes been so good, it UVAs offense

Jake Hagelin at loyola has gone under the radra, but has been playing out of his mind for the most part. very, very impressive in cage.

im thinkin Hagelin at Loyola or Galloway at Cuse.. I know he hasnt put up the best numbers but you have to look at opposing offense and his defense
Does anyone know why Alex Peaty isnt playing?

True, but you have to consider two very important factors that his numbers simply reflect and don't tell:
1. He's playing against some of the most potent offenses in the country. Seriously, UVA's schedules is loaded with offensive powerhouses.
2. Imo, UVA's defense isn't doing all that great (Again, consider factor 1) which means they are letting some middies and attackmen with great shots to run by and rip it on him. I think that with a defense (And schedule, for that matter) like Navy's, he would be putting up significantly better stats.
My picks are Gzovden from Hopkins, Hagelin at Loyola, or Coughlin/Phelan at Navy. I watched the navy game on TV today.
Coughlin, the regular starter, was benched due to an injury, and Phelan REALLY stepped up. I've watched a decent amount of college games/highlights, but never have I seen a goalie perform as well as Phelan consistently throughout the game. He had 13 saves I believe, and 3 goals against. Made about 8 or 9 (Seriously, no exaggeration) of those saves right on the doorstep, including an off stick side low shot that he totally just stuffed. Beautiful. They put him on the mic after the game, and yeah, the announcers suggested a goalie controversy multiple times. Of course, needless to say, Coughlin has done amazing as well, a lot of saves by him from up close, too.

John Galloway on cuse is a beast. His save % isn't that great, but him and Matt Abbot are absolute beasts on clears.

I'm going with Adam Ghitelman. in agreement with his number not being the best, i think hands down, he's the best first year goalie, this year.
Ghitelman not only has, imo, the most perfect outlet passes in the NCAA, but it seems as if every save he makes is effortless.

Dude Ghitelman all the way. The way he showed up against JHU was impressive. Didn't he have around 20 saves which you guys need to understand the 20 shot theory. 10 shots you face are easy you are expected as a goalie to save those. The other 10 are impossible shots are should save 3 of those. so saving 13 out of 20 is a win. If you analyze he saves he is above the matrix. Sick goalminder UVA all the way this year.

he had 10 saves and a .457 save percentage
gvozden had 17 saves and a .579 save percentage and hopkins still lost
get your facts straight

i say Syracuse shoudl try putting al cavelieri in there. ive seen a few of the games hes in, and he does. great. Sophmore Goaltender at SU. But then again galloway is amazing.. Ghitleman all the way!
Ghitleman's overrated. Gvozden is soo good.
