Say I wanted to attend the University of Maryland, Delaware or Cornell...
Mainly because of a academic program I wanted to be a part of, but feel like I could play lax for them. Would I have any hope of making the team without being heavily recruited?

you might if you're a good player, fill their needs, and can pay your own way. my buddy who played at Notre Dame wasn't heavily recruited and was somewhere between a walk-on and a schollie player. going to camp where you want to play helps get an "in" with the coaches.

You could always be a walk on but the schools you mentioned are top D1 schools, so unless you are a standout then I don't know how good your chances are.

not to shoot you down b/c i dont know what level of skill you have, but most players at those tops schools are there for one reason, they got heavily recruited to be at that level...so walk-ons at top d1 programs arn't that common, thats more of a d2 or d3 thing...but hey you might aswell give it a shot and if it doesn't work out play on their club teams
