Looks photo-shopped and also the "broken-off head" has no shadow :concerned

The break is straight across it looks fake like sheepshank said.

mdawg

i saw it happen at the game. it was the MLL championship game. thats watsons stick and yes he did break it clean across.

edit - looking at it, it actually may not be, but i have a hard time believeing a stick would break that cleanly.

it also looks superimposed onto the back.

edit #3 - Actually, its a photoshop.

its the position of the players and angle of the stick that gives it away

mdawg
11-28-2004, 03:06 PM
dude i saw it happen! it broke straight down the middle cleanly.

SheepShank
11-28-2004, 03:07 PM
The ankle and the fact that its not in focus, while the rest of the picture is.

Orange
11-28-2004, 03:24 PM
well the picture was found at lax.com, http://www.lax.com/bimages/1295/41 , and the stick wouldnt be in focus cause it was in mid air and moving

LiveAtWoodstock
11-28-2004, 03:28 PM
but look at the head near the scoop there is a shadow on that...

it looks to neat to be real, the head is almost perfectly level with the border, it should be upside down, flipping like crazy.

Orange
11-28-2004, 03:30 PM
idc if it is real or not but your not gonna see the stick "flipping like crazy" in a picture, maybe a video

SheepShank

Yeah but its alot more blurry than the players and there moving. Maybe it is real all I said was that it looked alot like it was photoshopped.

mdawg
11-28-2004, 03:35 PM
does no one read my posts! i saw it happen. it broke like that and like warrior said it wouldnt be spinning if it was in a picture

thats exactly what i said. its all blurry becuase its in fast motion and still in the air after being hit. of course its not gonna be focused, its a small fast moving object

LatinBabe

yeah, i bet it actually did happen. it is hard to doubt an eye witness... wonder if there was one though?

well the picture was found at lax.com, http://www.lax.com/bimages/1295/41 , and the stick wouldnt be in focus cause it was in mid air and moving

yes it would, i go down to the race tracks and take pics of cars MOVING at almost 200 mph, they dont blur or come in out of focus. so why does it matter that the head is moving? these are pro photographers, they dont use crap cameras.

LatinBabe
11-28-2004, 04:02 PM
the camera focuses on a certain object when it takes a pic, the camera focused on the players and not the head, thus it is blurry. look at the in-feild on your racing pics, it IS out of focus cus your camera is focsed on the cars and compensates for it.

livin4lax09
11-28-2004, 04:03 PM
it depends on what the aperture and shutter speeds are set at. You take pictures of race cars moving fast, it's because you're predicting the fast speed and you are setting the right A and S speed. They could have set a lower shutter speed, and by the looks of it, a small aperture, to take in more light, yielding a blurry photo. And it's not in focus because the right depth isn't in focus. The camera is focused more on the stands than anything else, telling me that the photographer was using AF, which a lot of pro photographers shy away from doing. AND, if it was on lax.com, and most of the photos on there aren't done by pros, chances are the camera wasn't that great. But the blurry head argument is useless, because you can control A and S speeds on just about any digital camera. The blurryness of the head has nothing to do with how fast it's moving.

and looking at the picture again, the camera sucks. It was definitely used in AF mode because it's not focused on what it should be, but nothing is very clear in the picture. Mostly everything is blurry. Tells me that its not a very high quality camera if they can't even manage to get a clear shot of anything.

what i meant by flipping in the air is at some weird angle not almost perfectly horizontal like it is, but now the more I look at it the more realistic it looks.

Lacrosstitute
11-28-2004, 04:18 PM
I dont find that hard to believe at all, you really cant tell how clean the break actually is looking at the picture. The Navy vs. Syracuse game was way better, even a goalie snapped a shaft. How does that happen? I think there was at least one other break in that game.

livin4lax09
11-28-2004, 04:19 PM
yeah, i get what you mean about flipping through the air. but i don't think a site like lax.com would just photoshop their picture.

Snowman01
11-28-2004, 04:22 PM
For those of you who won't believe mdawg alone, it's not a photoshop, this did actually occur. I was watching the game just yesterday because i was boared and i have it tape recorded.

I can back this up, i have the video tape of it. it's the 2004 MLL Championships, Barrage vs Cannons. also in the game they broke a titanium shaft (never was specified, just said it was titanium.)

trust me, i saw this happen.

Amen. They even managed to make a crappy titanium shaft. How can you do that? If someone explains how that is possible to me, I'll give them a dollar. They make some great heads though, I'll give them that.

Looks photo-shopped and also the "broken-off head" has no shadow :concerned

If the stick is about 2 week off the group then it wouldnt' have a shadow due to where the sun is at that time based on the other shadows....

BuschBeer89

You can make a titanium shaft crappy by making the walls paper thin so they are easier to snap

I'll ship you that dollar. But of course, that might not work because shipping for the dollar would cost even more. Unless one of my dollars has some sort of special value.

you can just put it covered in paper in an envelope and spend the extra 37 cents for a stamp, it wont cost more.

I'm talkin priority mail. None of this cheap 'envelope' business. If you want a dollar, you want it fast. Not in five days. Unless he really wants to wait five days. But the thing is, I dont even have a dollar right now. Ha!
