stretching/wetting mesh and pocket placement

ok i'm pretty sure this doesn't completely have to do with breaking in mesh so im gonna give it a shot and post.

i've strung sticks before and at first i used to wet the mesh to stretch it out but for some reason, whenever i wet the mesh, the pocket wears out REALLY REALLY quickly (even with hard mesh...which im pretty sure is supposed to stay hard). i wet the mesh on the stick i'm currently using and the same thing happened to it (and i've only been using it for 2-3 weeks). the problem is, if i don't wet the mesh, i have no pocket whatsoever. any tips or ways to stretch out mesh without wearing out the pocket quickly?

well the thing is what makes hard mesh hard is the coating that is placed on it and by wetting it you take off some of the coating, thus reducing the hardness of the mesh. The only thing you could do would be to double up more on your pockets or don't wet the mesh as much or do a combo of both
