Im sure you guys find this problem happening to you a lot. When someone is just rippin it to your opposite stick side either mid/high. how do you guys distinguish the difference. I find this quite hard. usually I try wathcing the ball very carefully and sticking with my choices. Sometimes im wrong thou......... Tips..... Shots coming from 70-80 is what im facing right now.

i do that too sometimes...cause even though i know i should just put the right hand up left and save it, i spind the stick to my left. all i can say is just practice, have someone shoot on you to your left and just practice saving it. you can also just practice imagining someones shooting and you save it.

I usually err on the side of going over the top (i.e. rotating my top hand over to the left as a righty) since you can get a lot of low balls this way too if your knees are bent, but it really comes down to watching carefully as you said, and reps, reps, and more reps.

I go over the top for high/ mid but if its low or some what low i go under.

You just need to see what plane the shooter is taking. If all of his weight is up high, and he doesn't dip at all, it's going high, but if he either drops his stick or lowers his elbow, he's shooting mid to low.

For high shots off stick side high, you need to push your top hand across your face and keep your left hand stationary. For mid to low shots, you should do the sweep move.

This doesn't work consistently at higher levels of lax. Shooters can start high and shoot low, and vice-versa. You just have to concentrate hard on the stick head and pick up the ball as early as possible.

if it goes to my opposite side i just block with my body. yeah, i try with my stick but it was worth the pain. I use my stick offside high, stickside high, ss mid, ss low, and the 5 hole. the other two parts are body saves.

i dont play goalie anymore tho.

thats wat i was thinking. my goalie coach does it to me all the time when he see me cheating and getting low. if the shooter is good they can make that split second decision to elevate it, then your screwed if you dont get it. best thing to do is to stay in your stance, watch the ball come out of the stick and step to it.
