As someone who has spent all their years in education in England, does it seem odd to Americans that we have so little links between education and sport?

To me the American system seems to be such a good idea and I love the whole college sport focus. Here if you're good at a professional sport you get out of school as soon as possible and get signed by team. Or you keep the sport you love going at university, but with the aim to getting a conventional job at the end not going into the sport. There is no drafting system in any sports, and little outside support for university teams. Just wondering what other people think of the American way of doing things, and the opinion of Americans towards their own system?

Also, how does the whole division thing work for lacrosse colleges, from what I gather schools are kept in their divisions with little changing around between them. Are leagues within divisions? or is there just D1,D2,D3 etc.?

Sorry if this post doesnt make much sense! :WTF:

The divisions are basically split up according to enrollment, so that a larger school plays other larger schools. Some schools play up in a sport (Hopkins, a D3 school, plays D1 in lacrosse).

The leagues are within the divisions, and those are usually based on geography.

the american system only applies to lacrosse and football *SOMETIMES* basketball.
in baseball, basketball *SOMETIMES*, hockey, soccer, tennis and golf all the best players sign out of high school.
if you dont play college lacrosse of football, dont expect to ever go pro.

If you are a phenom and are pretty much insured a spot, you would try to get drafted out of high school. Very rare.
