I have an indoor team entered in a league this winter, but I need some sort of name for it... help a brotha out. I'm looking for something ridiculous and hilarious, like "elbow deep"... but a little more PC.

Thanks!

"The Slashers". The logo on the front of your jersey would be a portrait of OJ Simpson.

One that I've always wanted to do for hockey or laX is to register a team as "The Indians". Rather than a typical North American Indian type logo though, I figure I could have a picture of a turban wearing brown-skinned Indian playing whatever sport my team is in.

The Indians one is great...
I actually saw a guy trying out with the wings with the team name shocker on his helmet and a hand in a certain position...
vermont huh? there is always moose knuckles

hahahaha the slashers, classic... i don't think the league would appreciate the humor as much as i do, sadly.

I love it, if I ever enter my own team into a league, that's the name I'm using!

Actually, with the clown-show of team names in the NLL, I'm surprised someone hasn't used Shocker already.

Was his helmet black and purple? He probably played for Team Shocker which is a men's team in the Springfield, MA-Hartford, CT area. I played in the league one summer and gather that they are usually the best team year in and year out. I think it's mostly Springfield College players, with a few others mixed in. As far as names and logo's go, you can't beat it.

Yeah, the guy I coach with played for them...he went to St. Vincents in Pittsburgh...

p.s. you can buy shocker stuff at www.lacrossewear.com, by the way.

We named our indoor team the shockers after Team Shocker. My basketball team was called the angry pirates....if you get it, it's funny.

Friend of mine named an intramural volleyball team "Off Constantly", assuming they'd lose a lot and it would lend itself to funny (if obvious) double entendres.

Well, lets see. There are no damages to anyone because the image is not really degrading (Indian man playing a sport offends you? OK, whatever, NEXT!)

Even if there were damages they'd be emotional only, and you'd never be able to quantify them properly. Also, the entity you'd sue (men's rec league team) has absolutely no money, and only exists as a word on a game sheet in a loosely organized amateur league......

Even if a court decided to listen to this nonsense, I figure that the worst we'd get is maybe an injunction ordering us to change the team name.

Good luck with that lawsuit...anyone who would serve me with it should note that it probably gets used as toilet paper!

My brothers softball team name is "the sauced" I though it was pretty good, and they had the letters from Natural Light Beer that spelled their team name. And on all of the jerseys it said "Enlightened we stand enebriated we fall."

if u have older guys have it be the "coffin dodgers"...old guys with lax, I played in a masters gang that had that name LOL

i wasnt saying that I am going to sue u... i am not indian, or anything of native american descent... i was simply stating that things that show anything of the native american culture, tends to upset the people... and even if they couldnt sue u, they would find some way to make u change the name of ur team... it has happened here before

The only time I've ever seen a team name themselves was with a baseball team in Florida. I would also like to get out of the way that I do NOT play baseball. Anyway, they named themselves the girls and wore pink stuff. I myself though it was stupid, due to the fact that they were playing baseball and their womanly status was already exposed, rendering their name useless and not funny.

My summer league team was the plumbers. Our motto was "We're number one when it comes to number two." Kind of lame now that I think about it. Cool name I guess.

I said NOT like North American Indian.

See, I would call my team the Indians.

Then everyone's expecting to see a logo like maybe the Cleveland Indians.

Instead they see a logo that's a brown-skinned turban-wearing Indian.....you, know, like from India.

Get it?

PM is probably fine, since the mods won't want to see a public discussion

Don't know the name of the team, but I really liked their look:

I saw a men's "Beer League" ice hockey team. Names, numbers and team name lettered in dark grey.....on light grey shells

(In case the reference is lost on any of you - Canadian men's rec hockey leagues are often called "The Beer Leagues" because one of the big breweries is almost always a major sponsor. Sign up, and you'll be lumped into the "Lite" or "Cream Ale" or whatever division..... Imagine that, they think that putting their names in front of male hockey players will help sell beer!:imparied:)

Remembered a couple ball hockey teams I was a part of briefly. Both played in a "league" sponsored by the sports bar I worked at during HS.

"The Piss-tanks" and,
"The Sunday Morning Hangovers"....since we played starting at noon on sundays, this one was very À propos
