i play goalie last year, had to teach myself.
i havent played at all since last season and had 2 knee surgeries since and i feel like a beginner again (not that i knew much to start.)
Last year I got my own stick, dyed it and strung it (probably not correctly) but ive been having some problems with clearing and breaking it in and such so im looking at getting a new stick.
Anybody have a suggestion of a good head (and relativly cheap) for a beginnerishh?
Any relatively easy ways to string a goalie head? Thats my other option since im low on money right now, just get new mesh and redo it. Which brings me to another question...best mesh for a girls high school goalie? I dont remember what i have right now, but its not working so hot anymore.
THANKS. sorry if these questions are answered somewhere already.

Lol, getting a head is all preference. In my expierence though the nemesis is a good all around head, they don't break to much and they form awsome pockets. Nemis can be slightly heavy tho. The stx eclipse is also a great head very durable and also forms good pockets. If your looking for a light head, the Gait sentinel is a good choice. Your clearing problem is prob cuz your pocket is messed up, try and find a solid stringer to do your stick, you will see a much bigger improovement. Mesh wise go with iether hard mesh , or 12 diamond. 12 diamond is kinda reboundy at first but when u get it broken in its realy good. Hope this answerd some of your questions.

First of all I'm a girls high school goalie as well. 9 times out of 10 if your stick is throwing funky then it's because your pocket is strung weird. If I were you I'd go to jimalax.com (Pretty much everyone on tlf, including myself, swear by the place)and order a goalie mesh kit and follow one of the tutorials on the site. It really is worth it to learn how to correctly string your own sticks. I'd hate to be dependant on somebody else when it comes to my stick and theres a little bit of pride in stringing your own stick.
If your short on cash then it'll be a lot cheaper to just buy a kit off of jimalax. However you'll need to know the best kind of mesh for you. There's a bunch of different kinds but these are probaly the most popular kinds
A) 12D hard mesh : Probaly the most popular kind of mesh, I use it and its easy to get a nice pocket out of it. This mesh will throw very well but it will give more rebounds than soft mesh if you don't have soft hands
B) Soft mesh : This is popular with beginners. Soft mesh never really forms a definate 'pocket' but rebounds are hardly ever an issue. It's harder to clear with but it is an option.
Here's a tutorial that looks pretty easy to follow :

thanks. ive kinda gotten discouraged from stringing my own head. last year when i tried it, thats probably how it got messed up. haha. i think i followed a tutorial but got confused because the amount of holes was different and i had more or less and didnt know what to do with the extra, i dont remember. so my head is strung based off a mix of a tutorial and trying to string it like the team stick.
