Duke v Georgetown (http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/videopage?&brand=null&videoId=3306653&n8pe6c=2)....looking at Quinzani's first and third goals (at 1:30, 1:16 of the video respectively), both appear his own impetus carries him into the crease yet both goals count....

any thoughts regarding this apparent anomaly at the higher levels of collegiate lacrosse?

Yeah! He clearly dove in to the crease. I can't fathom that the game officials missed that. Twice.

So what do they know that me and the odious Cardinal Puff don't?

they are fantastic efforts and i'd be loathe to call those violations myself....i would, however, appreciate any hints for talking the opposing coach off that ledge.

Both legal plays, if I'm looking at the right ones. The player does not "deliberately leave his feet by jumping or diving. Instead, he keeps his feet on the ground and falls into the crease (AFAICT). If I'm seeing it right, those are legal plays.

I agree 100% with LR...and not just because he's LR.

Its like the Nestea plung versus the bunny hop!

Take a look at this very old thread on the topic:

i searched under "crease violations" but didn't see this one...sorry...

anyway, i see the video as the player being in the crease before the ball enters the goal (not that he jumped or left his feet)...to me, the first is very close but the other is fairly clear.

No problem; it's an old thread, but there's a lot of good discussion in it.

To be honest, I didn't pore over those clips, and you may be right. I focused on whether the "dive rule" was violated, which it didn't appear to be.

It's an odd skill, but I seem to be able to recall key words in things that help me search. It's especially useful in searching the NCAA rule book.

I wish I could recall things from games with the same clarity. I'm definitely not the guy who knows how many personal fouls each player has and that #17 Blue is the one I warned in the first quarter for not having his chinstrap buckled!

Thread spelunker....heheheheh......thread spelunker! That's makin' me smile, Puff.

So The rule is really all about leaving one's feet, a la Air Gait, and not about diving as long as the diver does not 'leave his feet'?

hes not a diver if he doesnt leave his feet. so therefore he is a 'faller'. but yes, thats how the rule is.
