I'm pretty sure any cleats work for any sport (at least I've never noticed the difference). Just try them out and if you don't like them just tell him. That won't dissapoint him because you at least tried them. Try bringing another pair of cleats that you already know work in case the baseball ones are really uncomfortable.

Baseball spikes are specifically stated as illegal. That top cleat make them illegal if they are molded. You have to consult the rule book.

I used baseball cleats for two years without any problems. They were actually my favorite cleats until they fell apart. Bretmac, you should be fine.

I play with my old soccer cleats because they're lighter and I feel that it's easier to move in them then with my football cleats even though with those I get better ankle support like the baseball cleats your dad bought you.

Baseball spikes are specifically stated as illegal.
Please quote where it specifically refers to baseball spikes in either rulebook.

I've heard that, but it's not actually written down in the league rules. Not that that counts for too much anyway...

Rubber/synthetic non-removable cleat shoes with cleats 1/2 inch or less are OK but I'd never let a player use traditional metal baseball spikes as they are not rubber/synthetic and as far as I am concerned have a cutting edge. I suspect that is the design some leagues are concerned about when they ban baseball shoes.

That is how the referees are taught at their clinics.
Baseball cleats are to be considered 'dangerous' and thus not permitted. This is an interpretation for Minor that is is endorsed by the CLA through the national Clinicians by the OLA in using the national program, and the instructors teaching the clinics.
So you are right, it is not written down per say but it is spelled out specifically in the referee clinic.
Ontario -- not permitted,
