Thank you for your e-mail regarding the situation 5 on Page 59 of the 2005 Boys Lacrosse Rule Book. I forwarded your e-mail to the NFHS Boys Lacrosse committee chair and he stated that since team A was out of time outs and not in possession, it would be a 30 second technical violation. I appreciate you bringing this error to our attention and we will take the necessary steps to correct it.

Thanks again for taking the time to point out this error.

For you Snake? Of course...

A1 is called for a foul. Team A’s coach wants an explanation. He is out of time outs. RULING: He may still request a time out but if no change is made [in the interpretation] the team loses possession.

I went to:

http://www.nfhs.org/scriptcontent/va_custom/ContactUs/

and chose Area: Sports, Topic: Lacrosse.

I quoted the rule and stated what I felt was in error. Specifically, I noted that as team A did not have the ball as they were the last team to commit a foul, thereby giving the ball to team B, this would have to be a possession technical (e.g. time-serving) foul.

I had also called Ron Belinko the day before to discuss it, and while he didn't as yet have a rulebook, he said it did appear to be in error.

That's basically all I wrote!
