im watching the yale vs princeton game right now and it was princetons 10th goal, now

WHY DID YALES GOALIE LEAVE THE GOAL COMPLETLY. is it because he was trying to guard someone else across the other side of the net? im sorry but ive seen this happen twice now ( once in another game with syracuse i think)

but can someone tell me why these goalies are leaving the net?

if it was in the late stages of the game, and yale was behind but within reach, they probably had the goalie double team the ball, while the rest of the players locked of all the other princeton offensive players. its a desparation defense trying to force a turnover and get the ball back to score..

it fails either when the man with the ball beats 2 men (the goalie and the defender on him), or when one of the other offensive players gets separation from their man, and cuts to the goal.
