Im haveing a brainfart today and I can't rember a rule about clearing. When the defence gets the ball in the alley are they aloud to throw it to the goalie in the crease who would then have four seconds, or does the goalie have to leave the crease to get the ball. Also a goalie ( who is in the crease )canot throw a pole the ball and then get it passed back into the crease correct? Sorry if this isnt clear. -Thanks

The ball may never be run into the crease in possession. However, it may be passed into the crease as many times as you can in 20 seconds (since you have to get the ball across midfield within 20 seconds of gaining possession in the defensive end).

So if a defenseman (A1) receives a pass from the Goalie (A2), he can pass it back to the goalie who is already (still) in the crease, but if he passes back to the goalie who is outside of the crease, and the goalie returns to the crease in possession of the ball, that is a foul. Is that correct?

How would you administer that? Illegal Procedure, B's ball on the wing?

That's right.

It's illegal re-entry, B's ball in the alley.

[Remember in the future that we try to use B for the defense/clearing team and A for the attack/riding team.]
