may a goaltender catch a shot in order to make a save?

also, if the goaltender makes a stop with his crosse and the ball pops up to his side, may he grab the ball and put it into his crosse?

I think your talking about with his hand right? because goalies make saves by catching the ball with his stick all the time...

As far as the hand goes a goalie can bat the ball with his hand but he cant grasp it, so no catching the ball or picking it up with his hand. But, girl goalies can.

But, girl goalies can.

Just to qualify that statement, goalies in a girls' game can pick up the ball. We had a very small school back home that only fielded a boys' team. The biggest player, by at least 20 lbs and 6 inches, was a girl in 8th grade. Needless to say, that girl had difficulty adapting to the girls' game when she got to high school.

A goalie in the crease may bat a ball within the crease cylinder, but not close his hand on it. (NCAA and NFHS men's/boys' rules).
