okay, iv searched, but i couldnt find. im looking for a printible version of the 2008 youth lacrosse rule book, for NFHS.
i need to prove to my coach that bottom mouth guards ARE leagle in high school.

Mouth guard

• NCAA: The mouth guard must cover all upper teeth (cannot be trimmed to cover only front teeth).

• NFHS: The mouth guard must cover either all upper teeth or all lower teeth (cannot be trimmed to cover only front teeth).

i could not find on uslacrosse the full version of the book

thanks

That's because there is no on line version of the NFHS book - selling them is one way they make their money.
Tell your coach thought that the rule in NFHS was changed this year to upper OR lower teeth coverage - I guarantee it.

I wear the gravity, the shock doctor mouthpiece that goes on the bottom teeth, and so do many of of teammates. and the referees don't say anything about them. We do play with the NFHS rules, so we probably have the same rules.

This is correct. See the FAQ.

As to proving it, tell the coach to read it in his NFHS rule book. He has one, right?:monkey:

Well, you know what to get him for his birthday!

Seriously, what are the rulebooks, $8? He's coaching under NFHS rules but it isn't worth it to get a rulebook? And we wonder why the coaches don't know the rules!

Speaking of being anal, according to NFHS the mouthpiece must not be altered. Suppose you place it in hot water to mold it to your teeth. Doesn't that alter it? :banghead:

i guess so but thats within the limitations of altering.

edit: i just made that up

That is poorly worded. I'm sure they mean "not altered in a way not intended by the manufacturer." As in, don't turn it into a beaver mouthguard.

 If you want to get picky, I think it is safe to say that it is impossible to even touch a mouthguard without altering it in some way (oils from fingers, location in space, interaction between electrons in your mouth and those in the mouthguard, change in temperature).

yaa, and technically, clear mouth guards are illegal.
the rule is just to jeopardize the safety factor of the guards purpose, ie cutting it to protect just front teeth, which will not help prevent a concussion.
