Hey, I made Team Utah (this is hardly worth bragging over. Nothing compared to kids who make Team Maryland or something like that) a while ago. And we had our first practice today. It was awesome. Best practice ever. Moving on, is anybody else on these U-17 or U-19 teams? I'm on U-17. I could be headed to the Colorado tournaments in the summer, but during the winter, I can't afford to go to New Jersey. But maybe I'll see some of you kids. That's why I'm asking. So, who else wants to meet me this summer?

I don't know anything about who I play, or where to try out for other teams in other states. I mean, we had our tryouts awhile ago, so you might have missed yours already. But this is great. I'm most likely going to be playing for BYU now, and before it was a rare thing. This is most excellent.

Rare are open tryouts. Teams like Metro, Team Long Island, The Braves and Pride are by invite to try out. You gotta know someone unless you are REAL good. D-1 good that is.
Good luck.

We moved from Long Island 3 years ago and my older brother wanted to play on a select team. He is good but never got a chance to even try out. Where I live now I have been to 2 open try outs for select teams(yet to make one). I'm hoping the winter league helps me this spring as I try again.

Congratulations Raine!
We have a Team Charlotte and a Team Carolina around here, but I'm too young for Team Carolina and Team Charlotte is a joke. I'm happy going to camps. :loser:

haha yes i remember that. gah, we went from 112 degree afternoons to 40 degrees and pouring rain. my gloves felt like ice cubes.

i'm going to vail again this year. Team AZ U-19.

kryptic

yes, i also remember that...

standing at the midfield line, shivering, shaking my head, so all the water on my helmet would fall other..

THANKFULLY, I put my long blue socks in my bag, so I quickly put those on..

haha i too remeber that. we had to play at the field that was down the highway from vail- every shot that was wide of the goal near the lake would slide on the grass and rite into the lake. and i though it was gonna be hot up there- didn tbring nay pants/ sweats... hopefully well have the same 60 degree weather we had the second and third days of the tourney

40 and raining? You guys should come up to Central New York and play a few games. The whole first half of our season consisted of temperatures under 35 and rain/snow. Sometimes I wish we didn't have a turf field, because practicing for 2 1/2 hours each day out in that weather is brutal.

This past summer? I don't remember playing you guys this year.

In 2004 we were all from AZ
In 2005, the U-17 was all from AZ, except 3 middies, 1 from BC, 2 from Ohio
In 2005, the U-19 was all from AZ except about 8 BC players, 1 from Ohio.

Note our team names were "AZ~Can~Oh" and "AZ~BC"

hey dan were you on the utah team that played in the great western tourney at sdsu in like mid-july?

Dan
09-22-2005, 08:56 AM
No, I made the summer team, then had to work all freaking summer and didn't get to go to Vail (Which I was invited to) or San Diego. Sort of sucked, but I was a little burnt out after 9 straight months. Right now I'm taking an extended break from lacrosse. My senior year is just going to be plain old spring lacrosse, because I don't want to get this burnt out again. It's so much fun, but I don't want to overdo it.

Hey Kryptic, is the Starz program any good? i was thinking about trying out for the Tacoma Starz team this summer.. does it get you good exposure?

I'm trying out for Team FLC this year, I'll most likely make it and I'm pretty sure they go to Vail, so maybe I'll see some of you guys there. Also, next time the Possums have try-outs I'll probably go, because we finally have a coach that knows the people in charge of the select teams (before select coaches didn't bother with us and some kids who were really great players never got invited).

EDIT: I'll be playing U-17, by the way.

You guys got better, we (AZ Starz) beat the Possums in Sonoma, then we (West Coast Starz) beat ya in Maryland. Significant improvement in the time there

They are pretty good, the AZ Starz took 1st at the Sonoma Shootout and there's plenty of good teams. At Sonoma, there are tons of college scouts watching all the games.

Also, if you are one of the best on your team, you may get to play with the West Coast Starz, which there's more exposure and traveling.
