So its about mid season for our team, and im in my Junior year. And just as im about tostart sending letters to all my colleges of intrest i get injured in warm ups and blah blah blah. Anyways turns out i could possibly have messed my knee up pretty bad. I either have bruised a bone or torn my miniscus which requires surgery. Sooo...

I have been invited to a few camps (top205, topstar, and my summer league stuff) and that all requires payments before, but given the situation if i pay for all these and it turns out i cant play this summer, what do i do?

And what about with Colleges? How should I approach that? Should I just send the coach letters about my situation and just work on establishing a name relationship so he at least knows me? Is senior year to late to get recruited (Im looking d1 currently)

/sorry if its a little ranty, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you play Pallotti lax? the ones who come to the play day at queen anne's county high school? and that sucks man, i think you should stay in touch with the coaches you are talking to definitely but about the money, I think you should get the diagnosis ASAP so you can know if you can play this summer before given away money.

Yeah i get an MRI Monday or Tuesday (insurance made me wait so long) so ill figure it all out, im just stressing a bit because my coach wants his summer money lol.

And yes, that Pallotti. But we got in a fight with some Jersey team last year so we cant go there no mo =/

Yea dude I used to play at queen anne's, when is all the money due though for the summer stuff? And I'm sure they'll give you some insight on about how long you'll be out after they look at the mri.

you might luck out if its a meniscus tear. I did it to both my knees, so I'm a seasoned pro at this. PS its a relatively quick fix. Its an outpatient surgery, and is very non-invasive as far as I'm concerned. After surgery, its 4-6 week recovery time. Thats not to say you'll be back in shape; but your knee will good to go.

I don't know the dates of all your camps, but if they start after the middle of June, you should definitely be as close to 100% as you can get by then.

Hope this helps.

Its a 4-6 week recovery for meniscus trimming, more like 3 months for meniscus repair.

On this meniscus thing... I tore mine playing rugby in the fall (october.) It's now April, and I have yet to get surgery. I am able to walk, play, etc, but there is still a little tweakyness. Does it ever heal all the way on its own?

So an Orthapedic told you you tore it and then what? Did you decide not to get it checked out further or did he not think it was worth it?

I would first find out what is wrong with your knee. Once you know you will then know how to approach the situation.
As The Door said, meniscus tear is a pretty simple out-patient surgery and shouldn't take too long for your knee to heal. I would make sure while you heal to be as active as you can (so you don't get too out of shape) as long as you don't hurt your knee again. Keep up with your stick skills and all that. If your healing won't take you out of your summer camps and club season then I would talk to your parents and really consider paying so you won't miss out.
About talking to the colleges, I would talk to them and tell them about yourself. Go into detail about your sports backround and about lacrosse etc... Let them know about your situation and how long it will take for you to recover and let them know about your lacrosse plans for summer.
Since you are a junior you still have plenty of time to get noticed.
Hope all goes well for you.

He told me at the time that since it was improving to watch it, and after the season get surgery. I was just curious if it ever healed on its own since its been 8 months.

Send emails to coaches with a brief intro of yourself and your situation. Request info from the schools and work on getting admitted. If you aren't recruited as a freshman you could always walk on and possibly qualify for scholarship as a sophomore. Most schools will tell you they have room and money if student athletes show themselves to be worthy and a good fit for the team. Visit some open houses and pay attention to your academic fit.
