After a shot on goal, defense is closest to the end line, do they get restart inside the box or must it be pulled outside the attack box? I know offense does, but is it the same for defense clear?

Just to clarify, it's not whose closest to the endline, but closest to the ball when it goes out. I believe restart is outside the box.

You're each half-right. Ball is awarded to the team that is inbounds closest to WHERE it went out WHEN it went out. The ball is awarded to that team on that spot on the endline, not necessarily outside the box.

Any OOB on the endline: ball restarts just inside the line where it went OOB.
EXCEPT:
Any personal or technical foul on the play: the ball starts in the alley.
The second condition trumps the first: if there's an OOB on the endline and a foul (e.g., shot with a flag down) ball starts in the alley.
