ncaa style tournament for lax?

Would you like an NCAA basketball style tournament for lacrosse to decide a national champion? Or keep it the way it is but add a round or 2 as the sport grows. I only ask this because the sport is growing at an insane pace on the youth level which i think will affect the colleges soon. What do U THINK?

Even if college teams are added they will be low level teams. With title 9 it's going to be awhile before you see top universities adding lacrosse. NCAA basketball more teams in their tournament than we have in division 1 lacrosse. Also, as cool as the upsets are it's not rewarding to see 60 teams make the playoffs.

not right now. there arent enough good teams to make it into a 32 team tournament. eventually, i think that it will expand though, maybe 10-20 years. its hard for colleges to add teams because of title IX and other costs.

one revision i think that should be made right now is eliminating the automatic bid for the MAAC winner. none of those teams ever play well and get beat up badly in the first round.

I tend to agree with the above posts on this topic.

Even if we upgraded to a 32 team tournament, over half the teams in Division 1 would make the tournament, that just seems a little silly. I think the way the tournament is run now works for lacrosse. Championship weekend is great for the sport, and I don't think many people would pay to see games like Duke Vs Sacred Heart in the first round.

I think this situation would be more likely in Division 3. With the number of teams exploding, I think the NCAA needs to expand the tournament, and add in a few more at large bids.

if anything, i think they should take more in effect the strength of schedule of some of the teams that will probably even make the tournament this year. theres some teams that have a few loses or more, but are still top 20 or even 15 that shouldnt really be there, b/c all of their wins are to teams that just arent that good. i dont think some of those teams should qualify for the tournament as it seems they will be.
anyways, im sure in about 15 years theyll be able to expand...hopefully.

not happening way to much money in travel costs expanding the tournament to be like basketball would be unrealistic b/c only 59 teams play d1 lax d1 is not gonna get huge for a while b/c title IX
