Im not sure were to put this, in here or stick doctors, but it seemed more of a legal question, but could a d-pole or purely d-middie who didn't want the full length of a d-pole play with something like a goalie-length shaft with a normal head on the end? Theres a new guy on my team to was wondering and we weren't sure if it was legal, because when the rule says that you can have up to 4 long poles on the field at a time, doesn't it only talk about less than 72 inches or something?
PS im talking abotu highschool rules, VHSL

a "long pole: is considered to be 52–72 inches and a short pole can only be 42 inches in between there is illegal i think that anwsers your question. i doubt a goalie shaft will be long enough but he could cut down a long pole to his liking

A 52" long pole is taking 20" off the typical defensive stick - that is quite a bit shorter and should serve the player's need for a mid-sized stick.
Just make sure it is <42" or >52" - nothing in between except for the goalie.

I have found a 60" length works well for my JV LP

Just remember that this "mid size" stick will still be considered a long stick and your team will need to make sure you don't have more than 4 long stick Son the field at once.
