ok i need a real ref to make this call. the ones here in NC aren't trustable.

All of our teams gear isnt matching, a ref told us that our gloves all had to be the same colors because it was the rules. I know jerseys and helmets have to match, but I was unaware that gloves had to match.

I think it is actually unreasonable to require matching gear. Many teams simply lack the funding to do so.

Is this ref legit? or is he just picking a fight.

i think that the gloves all have to be a similar color but not the same style. look at colleges they wear tons of different styles of gloves

Under NCAA rules, gloves must match. However, many HS leagues using NCAA rules waive this rule.

Under NFHS rules, they do not have to match.

for example north carolina rocks kings and exos II's but they are all the same color

In North Carolina, the private and public schools play NCAA rules and they have not waived the glove rule in regard to the predominant color. Therefore for the varsity NCISAA (private) and NCHSLA (public) school games, not the jV games, the gloves must be the same predominant color.

I have coached a NCHSLA team in the past and all it took to make the gloves in accordance with the rules was a little black magic marker or black shoe dye since black was the predominant color that I chose for the gloves.

If you have a problem with this rule, take it up with your coach as they make the rules, not the officials. The officials just try to enforce the rules. Sounds like your gripe should be with the coaches.

And try posting on nclaxforums.com as they have a thread just for these type of questions. The two moderators are very knowledgeable about the rules in North Carolina.
