I was in indoor and some crazy good player was playing with me on some team...

He kept doing a dodge i guess but it didn't get past the defender it just switched his hands and too pressure off himself...

Ok say i have the stick in my right hand(both hands on stick) then he bends down having is back pretty much paralelle with the ground and he brings his stick almost like he is scoping a ball even tho he has the ball. It is very quick it seemed to me like a split dodge because he changes direction and hands but i say its better because one it protects the stick better than a split dodge, two confuses the defender, and three looks really cool...

If someone understood that can you tell me if it has a name?

Wait so its like a split dodge but he ducks really low? Sounds hard to pull off with out getting seriously laid out or tripping or something.

My team does that all the time. It's just like a lunge to fake the defender and switch hands.

Some guys were doing it at my indoor game tonight, it works pretty well. You basically have to give a crazy one handed check to knock the ball out, and you'll probably get called for a slash anyway because you have to be so accurate.

sounds like a scoop to me. i dont think the name matters but it is probably the same move that casey powell does in the warrior ads.

This guy puts his head down in the middle of playing a contact sport?

Ask any hockey player, and ask any of the laXers here that have played at high level......lowering your head is quite possibly the stupidest thing you can do!

If you're confused about why lowering your head is dumb, think about why you're not allowed to hit someone from behind....it's pretty well the same thing except that by lowering the head, you're putting yourself into a position to be seriously injured by legal hits.

As for you youngsters - when you're guarding a player who does that, forget going after his stick, complete waste of time. This is when you want to throw a huge football style hit. So, just effing step into him, and then effing run him over!

(Bonus points will be awarded if you can use your momentum to land on top of him yourself after you lay him out. Still more bonus points if you can suck one of his teammates into committing a stupid retaliation penalty. More still if you win any fight that results from these proceedings! :chuckle: )

if someone did that in an indoor or a box game, they would probably not be getting up very quickly, we have kids on my hockey team that just look for kids who put their heads down. the coach notices a kid like that, he tells our d-man to lay him out, with nothing more than a 2 min penalty, if possible.

There doesn't have to be a penalty......If a guy has his head down, you can really clobber him with a perfectly legal hit.

(Ease up a touch, just make him taste the pain, don't try to end the career)

he bends his body.. doesn't mean he has to be looking down.. if you guys have ever done power squats thats a good example your bending legs with your head looking forward anyway he is taking a side step twos the direction that he cahnged his stick too oand its too fast for you to even take a step towards him to lay um out

That' called "The Duck Dodge". It's what pussies do. This one Ohio team, University, always does it.
