I bought a brine money and strung it up with a sick pocket. I could throw the ball 3/4 of the field no problem on a rope. it really boosted my confidence. Now the best part of my game is still my clearing even though my money has since been retired.

When i was in 6th grade, i was told by the other goalie that i sucked. That really pissed me off, so that summer [leading into 7th grade] i worked my arse off, and i started 7th grade and am now starting this year.
So i guess it was when he told me i sucked i got really, really motivated.

I switched from d to mid/attack due to lack of size.
I went up against some older kid on my team on 1 on 1 and I got destroyed. He told me I was bad at short stick and I should go back to D. I worked hard on footwork and stick skills and now I can beat him every time in 1 on 1's.

Same here. The thing that makes me play better is when my coach tells me how Shi*** my line is. He tells us we suck, and we only play because the head coach wants everyone to. I worked HARD for about...2 weeks? playing half lefty half righty, and now I start with the sophmores (I'm a freshmen)

pick out a kid on your team thats really good and just start to force yourself to hate him so that you always strive to be better... pick up the stick left handed a few times to play some wall ball and get a sick underhand shot with it.... its lethal!

This is happened to my friend before, he thought he was getting so good so he kept wearing the shorts, damn even the coach thought he smelled bad cause he didn't wash it (we had games every other day). We teased him, he was a friend but damn there were so many jokes about him, you wouldn't want to be that guy. On game days I wear a rubber band on my left wrist and write the other teams name on it and snap it a few times when I think about the game or glance at my wrist.
Like someone else said, I also play better when I get hit hard, especially at the beginning of the game. I play really good angry, but there is a fine line between angry and frustrated.
I also have a buddy who wears the other teams colors to the arena/field on game day.
my friend who didnt know what he was talking about, taught me that your dominant hand goes on the bottom in 4th grade, so i learned that way.
so now, i am lefty
but my right has come along nicely.

I believe the mouth piece theory also has a lot to do with oxygen levels. The more open passages you have the easier it is to breathe and the more oxygen you can take in. This new training, "Hypoxia training," is where professional athletes tape their noses shut and breath through a scuba tube while they work out.
Note: This is dangerous and should never be done without the supervision of a professional.

I eat pop tart 2 hours and 17 minutes before every game.
I broke my foot, and kept playing cause I'm and idiot, but I learned when I could trust other d poles and when I couldn't.
Living in Texas, I didn't have much knowledge about the game, and our team dissolved and we joined another school's team, they needed a goalie, so I became the JV goalie. No accolades, but I really learned about how the defense works, and what shots can be stopped.

I played Defence till 6th grade, and When I was playing its was 8-7 us and our goalie was out of goal from a clear that was road and I was the only one stopping them from tieing the game and I blocked the shot and the shot broke my hand. I was out from the summer league for the first couple weeks but when I came back I was asked by the coach to take faceoff and now I am a middy. So breaking my hand wasnt that bad. =)

I played soccer pretty much all my life, and I played everywhere but mostly goal or d. I don't know how this translated to lacrosse, but knowing how a defense works in soccer helped me with the defense in lacrosse & I guess my HE in the goal eventually helped me as a keep in lacrosse.
In 7th grade I started playing lacrosse and played Defense for my 2 yrs in middle school. Then they needed a goalie in high school so I stepped up & the defensive skills I learned really helped my direct my d.
hah that sounded like I'm telling a part of my life story.
but I have to wear this yellow hemp bracelet with fake pearls on it. I always have to sneak it on, but it's easy for me because I have the big gloves that hide it easily. One game a ref made me take it off, & I played like ****. I wore it everyday since feb but I recently took it off because it's getting warn out.
& I have to put my equipment on in a certain order; pants, shinguards, chest, helmet gloves. then I need this one coach to warm me up while everyone's doing shuttles or whatever. If he doesn't warm me up, it feels weird because he does it a certain way & shoots a certain way.
Oh yeah, & I never wear a mouthguard at practice ever, but I wear this really chewed up ShockDoctor for games.

This wasn't necessarily with lax, but I played with a college soccer team and I was struggling to keep up with my weak foot (left), so I started to drive with both feet (Right foot on the gas and left foot on the break).
I started out just driving this way in the neighborhood to get used to it, but after a while it became habit.
Oddly enough, I began to see improvement in my shooting, footwork, and confidence.
Driving this way is very interesting once you get used to it. The reaction time to get on the brake saved my butt on several occasions and I won't go back to one footed driving.
Thanks,
Sean
