Navy looked very flat for a good part of the game. Poorly thrown passes and missed catches. They took quite a few poor shots that the Army goalie saved with ease. Army was consistent throughout the game and played with a lot of emotion.

I was lucky enough to be at the game today and Army just dominated every aspect. the GB's must have been in favor of Army 40-10 and Army's clearing game was a thing of beauty. Navy looked like they had just came off the bus and played and looked pretty bad but Army just was really focused and ready to play. It was a great game

actually Navy lead every statistical category except successful clears and goals. they out shot Army 34-23 and out ground balled Army 33-20. Actually, Fullerton had 11 saves to Phelan's 6, which was important in the long run.

well a loss is never good, but navy shouldnt drop at all in the rankings because of how the other games worked out. they should definitely put coughlin back in the cage after today, if hes healthy.

I was impressed with the clearing game of Army and shocked that Navy's D gave in so easily. On paper Navy out worked Army, but in the game it showed vice versa. Also, Fullerton had some easy straight-to-stick shots from Navy, esp. at the end. Wasn't the same Navy team I saw versus MD, thats for sure.

The reason Navy's offense looked so flat was because of Army's outstanding defense. They just didn't give Navy any good shots. Navy was desperate to shot - that's why they could only manage shots right at Fullerton.

And Army's clears were a thing of beauty.

What a treat to see Navy lose after so many wins over Army. Almost as enjoyable to see Army win as to know the pain that Navy and its fans are feeling.

I was also at the game and I was real suprised on how lousy Navy played. It seemed close on paper but Army had the field, especially their D, they shut Navy down...

I was there, really good game, army outplayed navy, navy was a little mad at the end so they took it out on a player, very big upset for navy, I was a little shocked. Army lead Navy 3-0 when I got there.

Yeah interesting comment, considering your quote about how winning matters..... Navy LOST along with Maryland, North Carolina, and Georgetown and they should all drop accordingly considering they all lost to teams ranked lower than they are.

It isn't like Navy to let up the week after a big win, but that seems like what happened. Any thoughts?

Navy didn't let up. They lead most of the hustle statistics like ground balls and out shot Army. They just weren't the better team that day. Army played a great game and really clicked.

No, Phelan should stay in. Just because a goalie has one off game doesn't mean you instantly swap him out for the old starter. As a coach, you have to show faith in your starting keeper. Other than this game, Phelan has been putting up great stats. And from what it sounds like the Navy defense was not making it work today at all. I know you aren't a goalie, but when you are and your defense slides late (I saw that happen a bit with Navy against Georgetown) and aren't clearing well, not only do you take more, better shots but it gets demoralizing for yourself as well.

great point. i only saw the box score though and when i see nine goals allowed with just six saves, i kind of pin it on the goalie. but both phelan and coughlin are so impressive. i saw coughlin against cornell and he made some sick saves. either one is a good choice.
