Let me get this outta the way early. My team is 1-6.

Needless to say, my coach is now open to changing our team defense from zone to man-to-man.

We're not a very big team, more of a quick and speedy team. (we have like 2-3 tall guys but that's it.)

So would a switch to man-to-man help?

well what the hell, youre 1-6, why not try it for a few games? if it works stick with it. if not switch back to zone.

it all depends....whats your achilles heal? do shooters or dodgers kill u? also, u said u relatively fast guys so how good one-on-one are they? if they aren't that great individually and ur getting killed by predominantly dodgers (assuming u have a good goalie as well for zone), zone is the way to go. but if you got guys who are great cover guys and since u guys dont take up too much space, id go with man to man

id go man to man, maybe slide early....i dont think zone is the way to go if your goalie sucks.....i mean, hes just gonna get lit up from the outside....being that ur weakness seems to be shooters, as defenseman u gotta be out on their hands taking away the time and room shot....by going zone u will be giving up the crank from the outside...u guys should go man to man in my eyes....

Yeah when we play in a zone we don't jump passes or get many turnovers, leading to no fast breaks, leading to not as many points...

Now we're 1-7. (We lost again yesterday)

your team seems built for man-to-man defense. Zone defense needs guys with long reach, smarts, and a good goalie.
