I have a great ability in the fact most of the time I can lower my shoulder and overpower middies who try to stop me in the open field and truck them, but how can you pull this off without dropping the ball because of the force of the impact? Should I try to pull my stick back as I'm going forward through the hit, or what?

You should try to run AROUND defenders--not THROUGH them.
Most refs will blow the whistle when they see someone try that.

It's hard with a D-pole doing a ton of open field dodges. Besides, I have a huge size advantage on most middies and this could easily be my best move, so I'm trying to develop it. Thank you for your imput though, it is much appreciated :)

My advice (as a d-pole) is
bait them with a pass fake to keep them honest, or get them leaning, and switch hands/go the other direction
Personally, I could cradle and dodge with a longpole very well with just one hand. I realize many dpoles might not have that level of stick skills, but if you can practice that and get comfortable with it, you can cross the midfield line 10-15 times a game and be a beast on fast breaks.
It just takes some time and effort to develop and master...
It also helps to be very good with both hands, and choke up on the d-pole when carrying the ball...

D-poles are not meant to dodge. Simple as that. If you find yourself dodging often, switch positions.
But, like me, every so often, when we are up by a bunch or dodging suddenly becomes a necessity, I like to pull a face dodge because attackmen always go play too aggressively.

Not to start an argument, but when you're fast, athletic, and with great stick skills, you can make your own rules.
Especially if nobody can stop it...

stick out your opposite elbow and run through the defender. also, a common way of cheating is sticking your thumb on the ball.

I don't think the thumb thing would work because he plays defense. It works with a shorty though.

if you want to over power him put your stick in your chest so there is no space in between the head and your chest and just go trough if the ball moves it will rattle around and hit your chest but should no way fall out

Try a swim move, nah I'm just kidding if I were a long stick I would zig in and then full speed zag out, know what I mean?
If your pocket's deep enough you'll be able to just cradle going against the motion of the impact...tricky to explain but i'm sure you know what i'm talking about.

Wouldn't that be considered Withholding the Ball from Play?

A fake pass or a quick change of hands with a pole can help with open field dodges and such.

Give the attackman a nice face dodge or fake pass because I usually over play on fakes and I have ot really sprint for the ball to make up for it.

I just do a little stutter step and then blow past them. If that doesn't work then a spin or face dodge or pass the ball off.
