depends on how old you are. If i'm not mistaken 5k=3miles, so thats just under 9:00 a mile.

Well, its not bad (taking the hills into consideration), but let's just say there's room for improvement.

It could be better but if there where a lot our hills and it was your first time in a 5k (3.1 miles) that time is not that bad.

yo, who cares... its doesnt matter how fast you run it in... either way its great that you ran... sounds like you need a little work on your speed with a 7:00 mile (no offense) and you went out and ran... every little bit helps, and if you keep it up it will pay off... btw, hstack, thats a legit mile time!

In all honesty, 26:50 is a pretty weak 5k unless the course was unbelievably hilly. Although it sounds like you did this without any training, so its not that bad. Depending on your age, an good high school athlete should be able to run a 5k somewhere in the 18-22 minute range. As a freshman, I ran an 18:15 5k on a pretty flat course.

last year in 5th grade i ran a 7:32 mile. 4th grade is 8:40, so i figure i shave some off each year

im a s'more and ran xc, but didn't train at all over teh summer, ran a 20.20 last race., best mile 5.46. If you really want ot get faster though, you need to run more than once or twice a week. try running three miles (or 5k, the're about the same) every weekday, up it one mile a week until you hit 6 or seven miles, then work on getting that time down. just doing this brings down your time real fast, ive noticed i improved the most the first two or three weeks of the season.

My mile is about 5:50 right now, it was around 6:05 around tryouts so I'm pretty happy. During basketball season last year I ran about a 5:45 so I have some room to improve.
I'm not really a distance guy so I dont know my 5k time

I suck at distance. I have an amazing first step and I can sprint. I can beat most defense men just with a stutter step and then I start dodging in the second half. There is a kid in my school though that can run a 5k in 15 minutes. He is insane. Yes that is about 5 minutes a mile.
