I recently got my goalie stick restrung and it just doesnt have a pocket like it used to. I have trouble catchig with it and i cant controll the ball as well. It is an STX Eclipse and has hard mesh. Can anyone give me some tips on how to break it in and give it a good pocket?

Step 1. Read the sticked thread.
Step 2. Use the search feature.
Step 3. Shoot yourself.

well catching with a goalie stick shouldn't be hard, but I'm just bustin' your balls..I know what you mean. You should wet the mesh and just pound where you want your pocket to be. If you know how to string..unstring the eclipse and leave the mesh in hot water for about 15-20 mins...then restring it and pound it. It should turn out fine.

Dude that pocket looks weird. Aren't goalie pockets supposed to be more rounded?

Depends on the player, I like mine like this:

Then again...thats just how I strung it.

I've got an STX Goalmaster (Got it super cheap, bought it just to screw around with) strung with a very similar pocket. Don't know what it's called, and wouldn't have ever done it that way myself, but it seems to work OK.

Lacrosse Unlimited does them that way. I popped into the Rochester NY store looking to buy a mesh kit to do it myself.....ended up only costing like $30 to have them string it for me vs. $20 to buy the mesh kit, so that's what I end up..
