I live on the west coast, but I'm interested into going to some camps on the east coast. Know any good ones?

Hmm there's an awsome one that my sister went to in Mass I believe. There were a whole bunch of college coachs and people like Jen Adams were there. Ill have to get back to you and edit my post once I figure out what camp I am talking about.

The All-American Lacrosse Camps at the University of Maryland. I went to the Super Select Specialty (or whatever it was called) one this summer, and it was perfect. It was short, but it focused exclusively on methods of attacking and defending the goal, so I got a ton out of it. You might try pairing a couple of camps together, perhaps even at the same place. If it is a big organisation like UM, you'll have different coaches for the sessions, plus doing two will justify flying all the way out there.

Oh, by the way, I'm from Seattle, so I feel your pain about lax camps and the west coast.

There was an awesome one at Rutgers University in New Jersey. I don't think there were any really big names, I know a few girls play or played for the US team... or somethin like that

The camp I go to is in North GA, kind of East Coast. It's called Super South, and I know there's a girls camp there. They were leaving the day the guys got in. The guys camp was really good, and I heard the one for girls was awesome as well.

I also reccomend the All-American Lacrosse Camps. They have a bunch and I did three last summer, among other ones. I've gone to their camps for two years and have always enjoyed them. The food and dorms are decent, facilities are good, and the counselors and players are all just a ton of fun and really nice. At these camps you get girls from all over the country and they are so worth it.

Last summer they had coaches and players from UMD, Towson, BU, Marist, GMU, Hopkins, Oregon, and Cornell, among others.

Depending on your skill level there are different camps I reccomend. The Open one is four days (I think) and is for everyone from beginners to the more experienced. I had a lot of fun at this one two summers ago but found myself doing beginner drills (not that everyone cant improve on the basics!) and not feeling very challenged so I skipped it this past summer. They also have Top 200 which is great if you mostly just want to play games with little (and I mean little) instruction. This is viewed as more of a recruiting camp because you have so little instruction time but I still had fun and met great girls on my team. They also have Super Select Speciality...this is where the big guns come out. Top talent from all over the country come to this one and its one of the most highly anticipated camps of the summer, as far as I'm aware. Tons of coaches come to this and its a higher level of skill is there so it can be frustrating if you dont feel your on the same level as everyone else. The other one I've done is the one at Bryn Mawr in PA. This was fun but for all ages and the skill level was not as high as other UMD camps. More of a range of players instead of mostly MD ones.

I also reccomend Duke's Elite camp. Really high level of talent if your ready for it with different coaches and players than UMD's camp to broaden your visibility. Its also VERY hot so watch out for that if you dont like heat and humidity. One more camp for high levels of talent is Elite 300-huge showcase camp w/tons of top players and college coaches.

Thanks everyone for great information, it was really helpful! I was thinking about going to the All-American camp. I might go to the Princeton Twilight Sticks or the Princeton Tiger camp with some friends. Notre Dame and Duke are both putting on lacrosse camps and soccer camps so I might as well kill two stones with one, so I’m looking into that too.

They were not tough, per se (sp?), just the level of talent of everyone else was higher. I still had fun at Bryn Mawr and there were a lot of good girls from Colorado that came down as a part of a trip to lax stuff on the east coast. If your only a frosh and not able to go to any other All-American Camps then I think you should go to this one. Any camp of theirs is good and you can learn a lot.

I've heard Princeton camps are good! I'm thinking of going to one myself this summer. The ND and Duke camps sound like fun. Do you mean they are two seperate camps at the same time or one after the other? The way the camps work is that they are all day so unless they are held in conjuction with one another or take place after each other you cant do them...sounds like fun though.

Anyone thinking of going to a UPENN camp? I got a brochure that was included in one of their letters that they're starting them this summer.

Well what I meant was that the camps would be one after the other. Notre Dame has not announced the dates or costs for their 2005 summer camps yet, making it hard to plan my summer schedule. Duke has not announced lacrosse but they did for soccer. Both schools do have contact information about the camps, but it will probably be awhile before they respond. The Princeton camps are supposed to be good but someone said that it gets boring so you need stuff to do and people to do stuff with.

for those of u that live on the west coast and want to go to a couple good camps on the west coast too in addition to going to the east. i highly recommend the camp at berkley and the one at standford has tons of playing come from the east coast. and there is a wide range of talent and experience too so even if u havent been playing for very long u will still be with people that are ur level. last year i went to a clinic on long island by kelly amonte and it was good it was working on like basic skills and like fine tuning everything. it was fun and there were tons of good players but thats not surprising considering i was in long island.

Duke camps are spectacular, especially the one reserved for rising seniors. Great for skills development and a lot of fun as well. The facilities ain't too shabby either. Elite 300 advertises itself as a skills camp, but it is primarily a recruiting camp. The majority of the three day period is spent playing games. I wasn't too fond of the Maryland Top 200 camp.

Best skills camp - Duke

Recruiting -- all of the summer club tournaments in the east

Only in a comparative sense. More skills training at Duke camp. MD was primarily scrimmages. More fun for girls at Duke camp.
