I know I'm new, but what is the name of that hotdog dodge where you swing your stick over the D-man and burn them to the side that you swing to. I obviously thought it was called a Swing Dodge but can't find anything about it online called that. I'm just wondering cause I'm pretty good at it, but don't know whether it's frowned upon or not by coaches.

unless you practice it enough, then it can be pretty effective. i know a few guys who can get by their man pretty easily with a swim.

if you want to learn this, just keep in mind that you dont want to bring your stick over his head, but just over his stick to avoid the check. if youre new though, dont focus on these types of things. just get down the basic dodges and stickwork.

if you want to learn a bit more about it, theres an instructional video on it on the insidelacrosse.com video player. theres also some information about it in the dodges sticky in this forum.

I never use the swim move unless the defensive player is fully committed to my stick side, then I'll bring it over, not a great move for beginners, stick with the split and roll.

i think most coaches frown upon it but if you can pull it off then pull it off

It isn't a hot dog dodge, It's a dodge that works very well in compliment to a split dodge. It works great if you have good lateral movement, good stop and start acceleration, and if your defender is over-playing one side.

I use it some times. I good for tall, fast, atheletic kids. I sometime like to do it after a roll dodge if i still do not have my man beat.
