well i'm gonna base my predictions off the IL bracket, so this could change when the actual brackets come out. For Final Four, i'm going Duke, Syracuse, Georgetown, and Virgina. I don't think anyone's stopping Duke, so they'll get out of there section pretty easily. Syracuse is on a mission this year and have been playing great. I think Georgetown will finally get over the hump and make it this year. I had a tough time picking between UVA, Maryland, and possibly Princeton in that last section, but I think UVA will come out.
For the final, i think Duke will take out Georgetown for some revenge, and Syracuse will beat UVA.
In the final, i'll say Duke over Syracuse, but i'm not too sure on the exact score. Duke just has too much talent to be stopped, even as well as SU is playing.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know, the bracket is being released on Sunday evening (ESPNU from 9-10 if you're one of the few that can get it...
We will also be blowing out a lot of coverage on its release. We're having Quint break down some stuff as the brackets come out (and post-release analysis), plus we're trying to line up some coaches from around DI to give their reactions to where they wound up/if they made it or not.
Should be a pretty interesting night, so stay tuned to IL.com for all the latest info...

i dont know if we can organize this with someone here but is it possible for us to get like a tournament going on with the lacrosse forums and the brackets? Kind of like March Madness but with lacrosse. Be interesting to see who comes has the best choices or the most points in the end

Seems like you would have needed to plan it sooner in order to have any success. It'd be too hectic and not enough participation if you started right now.

Thats a great idea. Perhaps IL would be willing to do that, if not this year than the next.

yea its kinda short notice but i just thought of this...if someone is good at programming maybe someone could figure out how to do it or whoever knows how the point system works. hopefully inside lacrosse can pick up this thread and make something in time ha

I agree with stegmakk once again ... no, not related, but share a great respect for d-middies ... the NCAA surprises usually start with the seeds and pairings. Everyone seems to have Duke, Syracuse and Virginia sailing through to Foxboro, but I'll stop short after the first two ... for now. No one knows for sure who the No. 4 seed will be -- Hopkins, Carolina, Maryland or even Cornell if Princeton loses today (for regional balance) could go in there. And No. 5 will likely come from this group, too. Where No. 4 vs. No. 5 play in the quarters may go a long way in deciding who has the edge, presuming the seeds hold. Virginia may luck out and draw a vulnerable No. 6 foe, or wind up facing a Carolina squad that took the Cavs into overtime or Maryland, which cost them their No. 1 ranking in a 13-7 setback in College Park. The only sure bet I see right now is that Duke will be at Gillette Stadium ... and Syracuse, which missed the show last year, looks like it's ready to atone for that little hiccup.

I might have a friend... If you give me a week I can try to make something happen seeing as I don't think InsideLacrosse (no offence ) can make something happen in that short range of a time.

Well, here's what we can do... We can start another Thread Sunday Afternoon when the official bracket is released. We can have a link to the bracket and everyone can download it and write it out or just use it to make predictions...
The March Madness bracket works the following way (point wise) for correct predictions...
First Round 1 point
Second Round 2 points
Third Round 4 points
Fourth Round 8 points
Semis 16 points
Championship 32 points
I was thinking we could cut this in the middle...
First Round 2 points
Quarterfinals 4 points
Semi-Finals 8 points
Championship 16 points
(The reason I didn't put the championship at 32 points is because it unbalances the bracket giving that many points)
Or
We could create a whole new system for points...
First Round 3 points
Quarter Finals 6 points
Semi-Finals 12 points
Championship 24 points
(Personally, I think we should use this point system... above...)
Please understand that these are for correct predictions for each part of the bracket. For example...
1st Round
#1 Duke
vs.
Cornell
Winner:Duke
If Duke won the game the person who made the prediction would receive 3 points.
And just for more clarification...
Let's say were in the Semi-Finals and it's...
#1 Duke
vs.
JHU
And the person did predict Duke to be in the Semi-Final game but not JHU. Lets say they had Duke vs. Maryland. If Duke won the game versus JHU. Should they still receive points or just have a point deduction? I think they should still receive the points just to make it easier on us.
And to keep a tally on predictions, to make sure no changed their predictions... they'd have to be all in before the 1st round playoff game on Saturday May 10th at Noon. Either posted on the forums or a picture of they predictions you made by printing out the bracket or you can email them to me if all else fails.
So I want to know how many people would be willing to do this?

I did one last year. I'll put it together this year.
I'll make a thread Sunday night with the matchups.
Responses must be emailed to me.
Cutoff will be 24 hours before 1st FO (verified by email time stamp).
Scoring is as follows:
1st Round Game = 1 Base Point plus Bonus Points for Seed
QF = 2 Base Points plus Bonus Points for Seed
Semi = 4 Base Points plus Bonus Points for Seed
Final = 8 Base Points plus Bonus Points for Seed
Bonus points work as follows:
If you pick #12 over #5 in the 1st round and #12 beats #5, you get - 1 for the game PLUS 12 for the seed winning. If you picked #5 and #5 beat 12, youd get 1 for the game PLUS 5 for the seed.

problems with the bracket
-canisius ahead of loyola and umbc
-no georgetown!?!?!?
-north carolina at the four, i think hopkins should be there
-either denver or navy, if not both, shouldve been swapped with either drexel or brown, IMO

Denver over Georgetown is a shame. I don't remember this team falling otu of the top 10 once this season. Also UMBC got shafted big time. How Carolina is a 4 seed is beyond me. Also I would not have been shocked if Georgetown made the bracket and not Carolina. And the MAAC winner needs to be dropped from tournament play.

What a disappointing year for G-town. HUGE upset over Duke that will probably go down as biggest upset of the year. Their losses were to reasonable teams, all by 2 pts or less (Edit: excluding the opening loss to MD). Its a shock to me too. I love Hopkins, but I bet if we would've lost to Loyola on Saturday, we'd still be in. I don't get how it all works.
