So yeah it's my first year ever playing this sport.

I know there isn't much science behind it,but how exactly can you mentally and physically prepare for getting hit. It's nothing like football to me,because playing football you never really put yourself out like that, and you can usually see the defender and prepare for getting hit, unless you are a receiver going over the middle(Then it is random).

I play Middie and Attack.I usually am the starting Attacker to start the game off,but since I have above-average stamina(Only considering the players on my team),the coaches end up switching me to Middie, and I play that for the remaining 3 quarters

I see a ton of action overall and most of it is fun(Wish I had some goals though )

What isn't fun is trying to pick up a ground ball,I know I'd get 9 times out of 10,but I can't bring myself to pick up the ball because I know what is going to happen next.

So mentally I'm already out of the game, because I am adamant about picking up ground balls when there is a guy running towards me.Not to mention that Groundballs basically lead to everything else that is good(The outlet pass, the dodge, the shot, the score)

Is there anything I could do,to get over this.I could always spin away from the guy depending on how far he is from me,but obviously that wouldn't work everytime(Especially if he just decides it would be better to lay me out,and then get the ball)

what i do is like turn the way hes run towards. If hes running towards put your back towards him. Then he won't, sometimes, know what do and will slow up and you can just cruise right past him pull a roll fake out the goalie do a back flip and snipe it behind the back.

Yeah I've thought one before.

If I put my back to him,he'll have no choice but to slow down.If he hits me,then it will be a hit in the back, and a penalty against them

That's one trick. What I do is just totally focus my energy towards getting the one thing done. Picking up the ball, taking the shot, making the feed. Put all your focus into doing that well, and you won't worry about getting hit. Beware of tunnel vision, however!

Yeah it's easy to get Tunnel Vision out there, especially if you are in a hurry.

Can't tell you how many times open Teammates have been ignored by me or by other teammates, because I or that other teammate was in such a rush

If you get low and get your stick low for a good scoop on the ball, he will probably get called.
Just try and focus on getting that ball and go for it.
Hits happen, and once you get hit hard once, it's not that bad, unless you get hurt haha.

do like i do first game of the season i did exactly what you said got a concussion so that liberated my fear of getting hit. then hit some kid during the middle of th season and pulled a tendon in my forearm (out 3 games). and last fri i think i ripped a ligament in my shoulder, i went to the hospital and i have a follow up on monday it hurts like hell they even gave me pain killers and it still hurts . i got it from taking a massive hit that knocked the wind out of me for 1 min it sucked.

moral of the story lax is rough get decked a few times and itll get the fear out a ya

fells god to get that off my chest

what I did is get really LOWso that it would be a penalty, or if your really good at stick handling try using one hand to pick it up. (if your that scared)

take the hit once from an older kid, after that it can't get much worse and you won't be afraid of kids your own age.

Hahahaha.

Thanks for the tips guys.

As to getting hit by older kids,I'm a Senior so it's over for me this year, unless I play(And probably will play) Inter-mural Lacrosse in College.

I've played Football for two years, and I've never gotten hit as hard as I have in 1 year of playing Lacrosse

just box out, its better to slow the play down, box out, and know for sure ull recover the ground ball

then you can run away from pressure and set up the offense

don't think about getting a hit much it'll cause you to fear the decks, I don't think about getting hit at all and then when I do I get mad so I'll probably want to get even and I play better when I'm like that, is that weird?

Nah.

I don' think it is weird to get pumped after a big hit.

I don't usually get pumped on hits.I get pumped when the guy cheap shots me

If the coach sees you go for a ground ball and pay the price for it, he will love you. Honestly, it's just a hit. Just turn your shoulder into it and be cradling vertically on the opposite side of him. Don't jump right before you get hit, a lot of people do that. just get low and shoulder it.

If you are about to get hit dont stop running or try to duck, because then you will just feel it more. If you run into the hit it wont be as bad.

if i am about to get croos checked by an attackman, i flip the bale behind my back to my goalie

Be aggressive about getting the ball! You can roll like you said or you can box out like suggested most commonly or you could hit him first. The game is physical so anybody can throw a body check. Now if you're scared about the coming hit kick the ball through his legs and run around him, Because then you have a fast break situation.

Yeah, make him scared of being hit by you, but only if it's logical in that situation to do so. You probably know this, but if you and a teammate are going for a ground ball at the same time one of you get the opponents out of the way and the other run through and get the ball.

get lower to make you harder to hit. i know some kids that play on varsity that are like 5'3 and can beat huge kids because they get down so low. basically get the fundimentals down.
