M Patrick Leary is no longer part of JHU's incoming class for next year; he's not playing for Detroit Country Day this spring due to academics.
Petro quickly replaced him with A/M Hunter Rodgers (Brophy/AZ), another big, fast middie, ranked in IL's Top 25 (about 20 spots above Leary). Rodgers had committed to Duke until they cut his $ because of the need to spread the $ around for the players who decided to take their extra years.

I think it was more than just academics because he was kicked out of DCD and is now at a public school in the area.

I don't understand how Rodgers could back out this late. If he was getting money from Duke would that mean he would have had to sign the NLI? And wouldn't that have been signed a long time ago?

In May of your senior year I imagine you should have a letter of intent signed. Also Duke could be losing 2 senior classes this year, if I'm looking to get on the field right away I would pick Duke.

From what I heard from one of the players on DCD, Leary didn't make Clearing House. After that happened, he just stopped going to DCD.

you guys will have to actively get yourselfs looked out by submitting games film to coaches and calling and talking to coaches. there not going to send someone over there for what they can find in-house in the states.
