A friend and I want to start our own little stringing business, stuff for like teammates and such. I was wondering how many/much spools of sidewall lace and how much/many shooters I should purchase. I know about the mesh but which jima or stringers has higher quality sidewall/shooting strings...and how much is a fair amount to charge per stick

i don't have a stringing business, although i did sign up for the stick doctor program at al. The prices ended up being cheaper than jimalax's.

well certain people have different preferences, so make sure you just have the basics for when you start: white sidewall, white shooters. Some charge 25 on my team, which i think is a fair asking price. It also depends on the labor

i charge ten if they give me the materials and fifteen if i buy the mesh. so its pretty much a ten dollar labor fee. (this is only for mesh by the way)

i have one so ill just tell you what i did to start n some things that might help you out...
-start with local colors, meaning high schools and youth teams. they are probably going to be your best customers. once word spreads, they come in droves. ive stayed up until 3-4 in the morning stringing heads because i had soo many to do.
-jima has great quality stuff and you really cannot go wrong with them. if you want to have more variety get some of textiles stuff, but most of the people you will string for will not know the difference from one type of mesh to another.
-pricing is totally up to you. you are definitely going to want to keep track of everything you spend money one. Mesh, sidewalls, leathers, shooters, dyes, website fees if you make one, etc. It might not seem like a lot when you do them separately but they really do add up. After i first got up and running, i had spend around 550 in everything just to get started. A great way to keep track of money spent is by using excel and putting it into there.
-keep track of heads when they come in and out. make a log, it can be in a notebook or by using excel. Another put name tags on heads when they come in with dates you get them and when they need them by. Also put on there if they have paid or not. String tags are inexpensive and can save you a lot of head aches thing is that most people will give you a shaft along with the head, if/when you seperate them to string it, put a name tag on the shaft also to avoid confusion. one time i had 20 sticks in my room to string and it a nightmare because i did not put name tags on the shafts.
hope this helped you out a little bit, you can check out my website in my sig if you want any ideas or what not. if you have any questions shoot me a pm and ill try to help you out the best i can.

it really all depends on how much you want to spend to start. i got red, black, green, & white crosslace spools. they work equally well and are less expensive. Spools will last you a longgg time, and will pay for them selves after a couple string jobs. for the colors of everything, just got with your team and local teams colors. As far as quantity of mesh, i strated with a minimum of 5 pieces. shooters a minimum of 15 per color)figuring you use 3 for every one) also keep in mind shipping time. jima order typically take 11-12 days to get to my house(northern jersey).

just start out with a spool of white sidewall (or cross lace if you want to), about 3 or 4 pieces of white hard mesh, and get 3-4 shooters per piece of mesh that you get.
And get jimalax mesh, stringers shack has great stuff but a lot more people would rather have regular hard mesh in their stick.
And for one stick you should charge about $15 per stick is you like them or $20 if you don't

you cant be prejudice when your doing business. stick with one price and stand by it no matter who it is. after you have established yourself, then you can start hookin people up with discounts and what not.
