What is an effective way to have a mid-high pocket but also have the pocket loose enough for one- handed cradling?

^^^ yeah... thats really helpful

But to answer your question. I would string it as if i wanted a huge bag, then either roll or weave 2 or 3 straight shooters close to the top so when you cradle horizontally the ball sits under the lowest shooter. And since you made a "baggy" pocket the be should roll down to the lower end of the pocket for one handed cradling... Hope this helps. That is how i string most of my sticks

I think I've found a setup that gives you the properties you're looking for.

I'm using SLLDC and I don't really know how to do sidewall patterns but basically I string it tight down to the 11th sidewall hole from the top, then do 3 one to one, then back to one diamond every other hole.

Then I've got 3 rolled shooters. I do a weird kinda replacement for a v and put nylons in my shooters inside the mesh for feel but you can do it however you like. It acts more like a mid-high pocket but handles well in the one handed cradle.

The main idea is to get somewhat of a "Bag" so the ball can drop down lower, essentially you want the mesh to give a little but have slack where the ball sits...

A pattern that could help would be similar to: 1-1-3-2-1, as it'll slowly allow the ball to roll to the "2-1" area during one handed cradling...

Hope that made sense, it's all experimentation.
