Attention Coaches,
I would like to take this opportunity to extend an invite for your team/organization to attend the 2nd Annual Rick “Tuggy” Passfield Memorial U-16 Field Lacrosse Tournament. The tournament is scheduled for August 22-24th 2008, and will be located in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. It is our goal as a tournament committee to host teams from a variety of Provinces, States, and countries. All proceeds from the event will benefit The Oshawa Hospital Foundation, and more directly to HCM Awareness. After a successful start in the first year of existence we look to continue to continue to build a lacrosse tradition, as a tournament of this nature is currently non-existent.
In August of 2007 there began a new lacrosse tradition, and more so, a beginning to bringing all lacrosse cultures together. Teams participated from Alberta, Pennsylvania, ILA, and from across the Ontario Lacrosse Association. Each team was guaranteed 4 games minimum during round-robin play, and semi-finals and finals were played on the final day of the tournament. The most unique concept incorporated in the event was the Tournament All-Star Game. Each competing team was represented with players mixed into respective Team Brine vs. Team Warrior. The players, and everyone involved were amazed at the complimentary uniforms and presentation given during the All-Star match-up. In 2008 we will offer the same ideas, and we will work to top what has already proven to be a great lacrosse weekend.
The tournament entry fee is $500 for all teams. Included in the price is: All team members get a tournament t-shirt, team breakfast banquet, prizes, individual/team awards, and those competing in the All-Star Game receive a full uniform. Please join us in a competitive weekend of talented lacrosse, non-stop activities, and a chance to play teams normally not involved in your local league play.
Any questions, suggestions, or comments can be sent directly to me badger525@hotmail.com or my assistant, Sonya Shanks at sonyashanks@msn.com. I understand that many teams, coaching staff, and funding requirements are not yet established, but please forward this information to the appropriate people. For teams traveling from abroad, we offer accommodations, and transportation. More information regarding travel prices will become available ASAP. Thank-you, and I hope to see you at our tournament.
Sincerely;
Joel Johnson
Tournament Coordinator
