lukeoz

Yes, though Pete is usually in attack now, hasn't played midfield for a couple of seasons.

Only if someone from the other states fork out the cash for sponsorship and prizemoney.

no mundell for panthers?
Smack's gonna do a sweet job in goals.
Dont really know any of the Woodville warriors, but obviously their a good side.
Should be a good game for those who are going to watch it.
But i'll put my money down on panthers considering they have a very strong side even if they arent at full strength.
Go panthers!!!

This event is Courtney Inge (nee Hobbs)'s baby. Let's wish it every success, she has put a lot of money and effort into this thing (as well as Velocity Lacrosse who are also sponsoring the event). To all the lax community in SA, please come out and support this event to ensure its future. Anyone who is interstate, see if you can get a cheap jetstar flight! Hopefully Eltham and Newport can bring along a good crowd.

No Mundell for panthers. Eltham is not sending its current state league team. It is sending it's 2007 grand final team (with 2 changes due to player unavailability only) because that is what the event is all about. It is meant to be the 2 premiership teams duking it out for the glory of the Australian Club Champion title.
This will be a great event, so get to the game and support it. If you are in Melb, $200 will get you a return flight. The mens game starts at 8:20pm so you could fly over after your sat arvo game and still make it.
Good luck to all involved.
Go Panthers :)

Good luck to all, especially the event organisers, this is a bold initiative and one that should be supported.
I reckon that whoever wins will be putting a great proportion of the prizemoney across the bar anyway!
Good to see young Whip is CC of the Peckers.

Wow nearly 50% of Woodvilles team is either a Captain or an American!

Just out curiosity is the championship game going to be on any kind of television in Australia?
We wish!
No, sadly lacrosse is a very small sport in this country. The state championships (Australian Lacrosse League) where the 3 major lacrosse playing states compete against each other have, in the past, been on 'cable' television but this game will certainly not be.
These games are a one off contest between the top club teams from victoria and sth australia (mens and womens). Hopefully it becomes a tradition

hay guys sounds like a good thing to bring to lacrosse, but only one thing its around the time of the u19's n u17's nationals... good team lists for both should be a ripper game.

who are the seppos?
jeff dowling, mike boerma and greg lazarus are our guest players this season, all from st michael's college in vermont ... plus mark agostinelli who ruptured BOTH his ACLs in a college game earlier this year but decided to come over anyway as he is looking at work opportunities too

Hey just got back from OS. (spain. amazing!!) Whats all this about? What a great idea! Would love to play in this although I think its gonna be a while before we win SL. (Or I even make it). I know Eltham but not too sure on Woodville. Am I right that the inge brothers play there. Are they any good. I assume they are as they won last year but can anyone shed any light on a possible outcome?

woodville got up by 2 over eltham in a tight game.
think the score was 14-12.
didnt see the womens, but i beleive newport are taking home the oversized cheque.

Interesting result.
How was the event? and the after party?
lukeoz
06-09-2008, 07:27 PM
well, winners are grinners, and i'm a freakin' cheshire cat right now!!
in the women's game, newport beat glenelg 20-16 in overtime, after it was 15-all at full time
the men's game saw woodville beat eltham 13-11 in a thriller of a game
the night was a great advertisement for the concept of a national club championship - close games played top quality and at high intensity ... you could see how much all teams wanted to win, and i think it was despite the prizemoney on offer (but we're happy to take it!)
hope to see this event become a regular fixture on the australian lacrosse calendar, and see some teams from the west come over next time
GO WARRIORS!!

Excellent tournament - even if the Panthers didn't pull off the win!
The people that arranged and organised the Championship need a MEDAL!
Well done to the Warriors after being down by 4 goals at one stage.
Looking forward to the rematch!

Watched the game.
Very high standard game. While the panthers got done over by the Refs, they had their chances to win the game and all cred to Woodville for coming back and winning. The ALC need to have a look at the game, because games like that will lift the standard of Lax here in Australia.
