We are playing in an event that changed the rules so that each division reads similar to: U-15 "the player must be 15 or under in the year preceeding the event". I thought the U stood for under? I think the host wants to include it's U16 team in games. I think it would be come a safety issue in the U13 age group. Of course the high school division does not have a U anything. It was my impression that any event endorsed by USLacrosse had to use the NFHS rules? Additionally, I don't think anyone will qualify for TOC if they use older kids.

Some tournaments throw in a comment about having started high school too. If 9th grade is high school, this statement knocks out quite a few potential players.

high school tournament in the summer are u-19 and alot of times the rule (for u-15) is that you have to be 15 at a certain date [january 1st] and any birth-date after youre eligable to play for the team

That's my point. There was basically a year of eligibility added to each age group at the last moment. And, since it's a qualifying tournament for the TOC, if a team plays with an ineligible player (s) they will be disqualified for the TOC as a team.
