im a middie strongly considering becoming a goalie and i can confidently say that i know the ins and outs of short sticks (what different kinds of offset will do and such)

im asking all you goalies: what and the things you look for when buying a head?
weight? catching area? offest? etc.

weight means nothing, catching area is not a factor for me ( i use a sentinel which has a smaller catching area), offset has become pretty standard. for me the main things are: ability to form a channel easily (nemi, sentinel) and durability, so far my sentinel has lasted well considering it's done better than my nemi's

It's good to be able to form a good pocket with, and passing ability is also important. Nemmy and Sentinel are great goalie sticks, but I like the way the Eclipse passes. Durability is also important--I've never broken an Eclipse, yet when I loaned one to our backup goalie, the top shattered from a point-blank laser. You really can't go wrong with any of the top 4 goalie heads, which I'd say (in no order!) are Eclipse, Nemesis, Eraser, and Sentinel. Geez--When I started playing, the only real choice was an old Goalmaster, until Warrior introduced the Abyss and STX made the Eclipse.

Well weight and catching area are not the main things to look for but lighter and wider couldn't hurt. Offset in most heads is pretty much standard. But the nemesis is definitely one of the easiest to form a good pocket in, but really just go to a local store and find the one that feels best in your hands, a goalie's stick is sacred.

I dont want to jack your thread but I have played with a snatch,a abyss,a nemesis and a eclipse. I only own the snatch and the nemi and clipse. I want a sentinel because it just looks like the throat is more built to hold then any of my current heads. The only problem is is that my dad is not letting me buy any more lacrosse stuff even with my own money...

But when I look at a goalie head I basically go online and just find the pro's and con's of every goalie head Im looking at
