The contender is quite strong for how lightweight it is and overall it has stood up ok but it doesnt really dent or bend it cracks which is a bad thing. it isnt a very strong shaft but it works well as the axe shape places your top wrist right behind the shaft which helps your controll 10 fold. get it but take care of it

The Contender is a great shaft, with a really great feel. However, I have broken two of them so I have moved on. Gait DB803 Ice for game stick and Klyte for backup.

ive had mine all season for my primary. Its an awsome stick. its taken tons of hits no bends or chips. the sticky layer on top eventually starts to ware off but overall i love it

if you find yourself in doubt of the strength, take one of your own shafts with considerable strength(your previous shaft most likely) and try out the "make your own contender shaft" (http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=105089&highlight=make+contender) tutorial. it will be better than the original, and it will only cost all but what, $3 for a roll of tape that most likely already have.
